Wait why
If they can justify it fine
But no reason keep it as current levels

More into military?
Did they forget we have other areas this money can be used?

They're putting more money into military?
How do I consistently disagree with what seems like every single thing my country does? It's almost like they stand for everything I hate.

Actually, they don't. :P Funny that I came across an article related to this topic today:
YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan — U.S. servicemembers looking at career options in this era of shrinking military budgets and force drawdowns might want to take a look Down Under.
The Australian government is recruiting experienced U.S. enlisted personnel and officers to fill a range of positions — from submariners to doctors — in its military, according to a posting on the Australian Defence Force website.
...
The job offers could be tempting for U.S. troops as the Afghan War winds down and the Department of Defense looks to trim billions of dollars and more than 100,000 uniformed personnel from its books.
...
The U.S. Air Force website lists the annual base pay for an E-5, staff sergeant, with six-years’ service at $31,946. An O-3, captain, with six years’ service makes $63,263.
By comparison, a newly promoted E-5, corporal, in the Australian air force makes $57,277, when converted to U.S. dollars, while newly promoted O-3, flight lieutenant, takes home $66,417.

Pay is a lot better in Australia, and the support services are probably better as well.
And trimming excess spending in the food stamp program is a good thing, as it'll (hopefully) help both the program and the people learn to do more with less and improve productivity. The levels of abuse in this program are too high right now, and when you're a country that's broke, fixing these leaks should be a priority.
That said, I'd like to see the rest of the budget. 'cause these points could just be there as a compromise to other stuff. No big picture = no point in discussion!

The improve producvity is a dream
they just find someone to mooch from
and the trimming excess donest work as it just goes back into the miltary
Government reallocted the money, spending remains same

While there may be some fraud in the program, wantonly cutting recipients is like amputating to cure an ingrown toenail. Instead, they should tighten scrutiny and accept that we don't really need a military that can conquer the rest of the earth.

Oh lord. It feels like Romney is in charge already.
Also.. one thing I do love about most of the current Republican's opinions is that they bitch and moan about Obama not doing anything about the debt, and yet it's them who lack the balls to cut the things that actually need to be cut (and would ultimately help a lot more than just cutting things that are already low).

I never heard of food stamps before
Does America have welfare or food banks?
-
paladin wrote on 2012-05-12 01:42
Food banks is locally based
Cities normally estabilish them
Food stamps are a form of welfare
Instead of giving you food money, some stores will accept food stamps for food
