I can't access certain websites.

This is an archive of the mabination.com forums which were active from 2010 to 2018. You can not register, post or otherwise interact with the site other than browsing the content for historical purposes. The content is provided as-is, from the moment of the last backup taken of the database in 2019. Image and video embeds are disabled on purpose and represented textually since most of those links are dead.

A problem that I have that's been plaguing me for the week is not being able to access certain websites. An example of it would be mabinogi.nexon.net. The page will start loading, but the webpage will stay white and Firefox will saying "Connecting..." but the page doesn't load. I've tried with other browsers, and the result is the same.

It works in college, though, which leads me to believe it may be my internet. I've also had problems accessing other webpages, like NEXON's ticketing page, or some university pages. Has anyone else had problems like the one I'm having?

Maybe your government decided to censor those websites at the same time as piratebay :whoops:

Though it might really be a DNS resolving problem.
Try going to the IP of the mabinogi page: http://63.251.217.212/
If you get a "404 not found" then you know you can actually access the server that "mabinogi.nexon.net" points to. If this is the case, open up the command prompt (type "cmd" in your start menu search) and type into the black box that appears: "ipconfig /flushdns" and press enter.
Then try mabinogi.nexon.net again.

If that didn't work, try changing your DNS servers to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 (they belong to google). If you're not sure how to do that then try to find how to do it on google. Once you've done it do the "ipconfig /flushdns" again, and see if it works now.

I tried accessing the IP of the Mabinogi page a few days ago, and nothing. I also tried it again as you suggested, still nothing. The page continues "Connecting"
I forgot to mention I tried flushing my DNS yesterday.

I changed my DNS servers to Google's ones, and also flushed the DNS. Still, nothing. Think I may have to call my ISP?

Can't really think of anything that would block it at an IP level short of either:
1) firewall or other filtering device on your end (including network, not limited to your PC)
2) virus or other evil thingy
3) ISP

Try with other computers in your home, or even a mobile device on your wifi. If at that point it doesn't work and you know your router doesn't have any rules blocking it, contact your ISP (or ask a friend whose on the same ISP first).
Keep in mind that nexon seems to have blocked pinging of their server, so try to access the page in a browser rather than doing a ping.

I can't think of any firewall being the problem, but I'll take a look around in a moment, or tomorrow morning.
As for virus, I don't think it would be one.
And if this isn't resolved in a few days, I'll have to call my ISP. This problem is also stopping me from filling out accomodation forms for uni. :c

Well, my MTU is like, 368 right now.

Well I mean, were you able to access sites, lowered it, then couldn't access them?
Either way try raising it up to 1500 again and see if you can get in. When I tried lowering mine, I could only get to the DFO site maybe 5% of the time.

If you did play with your MTU, you probably shouldn't have anyways but yes that can cause problems. Especially if the MTU you messed with in your PC is much lower than the one on your router, effectively making the modification you did on the PC useless.

changing it back to 1500 sorted it out.
