For college my parents are getting me a laptop, but don't know much about computers. They want me to find one. Could any of you recommend me some laptops that can run Mabi, Vind, Dragon Nest, maybe Team Fortress 2 on regular settings? Also if it is relatively inexpensive like around $500-650.
Thanks!

I would say Invalid's choice is the best one, but I'd like to ask you some questions. Is a 17 inch fine for you? Since you're going to college, I'm under the assumption that you'll carry it around campus, and maybe use it to take notes in class. Is this true? Also, is battery life an issue at all?

I wouldn't get a 17" laptop, especially if it's an Acer. The thing's gonna fall apart.

I don't really care much about screen size, except nothing too small. Yes, I will be carrying it around school, but I only have 1-2 classes a day.Um about battery life, something around 4 hours, anything under that imo is not worth buying.
why, is acer bad? o3o

I have an acer, HP and lenovo laptop. Acer is not too horrible, but it's not the best either. Try Asus or Lenovo. Also, try getting a light laptop, carrying around this 14" laptop is breaking my back.

You want to get a laptop for college or for gaming?
Because it sounds to me like the latter.

That's my laptop, a good quality gaming laptop that is on the expensive side but can play a lot of games on high settings. Do not get it, it is around 8.6 pounds.

I'm using it. Its definitely good and theres nothing I can't run on high (though sometimes I bring down to medium for encoding).
The thing is MASSIVE and not portable at all. I suggest that you use it for desktop use and never move it. The only benefit is that its easier to move than a desktop in case you need to switch locations, which I don't even recommend doing. I mean, when you go for something like this, you're actually better off with a desktop.

Even if he were curious about it, Asus has a new model out now to replace that one. But that aside, you want to take it around the campus right? The Asus G series are all very heavy laptops. I wouldn't get one myself honestly. . .

Hmm what is a good laptop brand like hp, dell, lenovo, toshiba? I was talking with a friend and he said toshiba wasn't a good choice. Would you agree with that? And I know you guys don't like Acer xD
