I'm afraid I don't know the answer to either of these two questions, as I believe we haven't even had something like either case happen, at least not during my stay.
But I will try if I can simulate some of these cases with custom infractions and short bans on a dummy account, as I want everyone's questions answered.

That might seem like a stupid question (and it probably is one!) but are days counted down on the expiration timer when a member is banned? Like lets say someone is banned 6 month because he/she get 24 points; would those point be reduced to 0 once he/she is unbanned (since 6 month is roughly the 180 days) or it start counting down once the ban is lifted?
I realize that it's probably the later but curiosity forced me to ask anyway!
I guess the question, putting it simply, is if the days keep counting down while the person is banned? My guess is that it does. (EDIT: false, read below)

Wow. This is excellent! Thanks for taking the suggestion and implementing it.
It's nice to see how some points never expire and the ones that do - take a while. That alleviates my fears of this system being abused.
However, just a quick question. Let's say someone severely flames another user.
They acquire 10 points and are banned for 3 days. When they come back - they severely flame yet another user, getting another 10 points.
At this instance they went from 10 points to 20 points.
Are they subject to the 2 month ban period only? Or are both periods added up to give 2 months and 2 weeks?
I would hope that it would be the latter - but I'm asking for confirmation.
Thanks!~
My guess is that the former happens actually, but it would all depend on how the code was written out, which I wish I had a chance to look at.
Alright, I'll see if I can simulate some of these things now, hopefully get back to you with an actual answer and not guesses.
Or possibly other mods could know.

I was wrong about first one, right about second one.
So to give a direct answer.
Kanam: The ban period seems to add up to the expiring time of the infractions.
i.e
Person has an Infraction that expires in 10 days.
Person gets banned for 3 days.
Infraction will expire in 13 days, not in 10.
Episkey: Said person would be banned for 2 months.
