The only thing I feel when seeing that pic is sympathy. It would have never crossed my mind to find it disgusting. Disturbing of course, but rather because of the baby's fate.
I think it takes a certain lack of empathy to wound the mother's heart by removing the pictures because some selfish sissies only concerned about their blissfulness can't simply look away. I would've waved the requests off.

that baby is no less a person because of a defect. so, what, if you see an deformed person on the streets are you going to tell them to stop being deformed or to stop going out in public because their appearance offends someone?? then again, it's whatever. not everyone can look past appearances, i guess. it's one thing to put an active effort into looking good or improving what you have, but it's another to be born with something you couldn't possibly change without extensive surgery. it's not the baby's fault, or even the mother's. so it, i guess, makes me upset to know that this is only the beginning of what will be a long, hard road for the child socially.
