This is an archive of the mabination.com forums which were active from 2010 to 2018. You can not register, post or otherwise interact with the site other than browsing the content for historical purposes. The content is provided as-is, from the moment of the last backup taken of the database in 2019. Image and video embeds are disabled on purpose and represented textually since most of those links are dead.

I'm gonna be testing out an SSL certificate for Nation for the next hour or two (allows https to work).
Stuff might get weird while I'm doing it.
Vbulletin is fairly crappily built for working with SSL.

Cool O:
I guess people that can't access Nation from school or something won't have to worry about it anymore!

bastards are using complete URLs everywhere instead of relative paths. So links all over the place have "http" in it. Causing so much problems for testing D:

Explains the slight no-entry I had earlier.
Now I can flaunt the Firefox button about certificates next to the URL.

Arguably, stuff is always weird here...
But I haven't noticed anything stranger than usual yet.

It seems to be at least partially working right now.
There's a few static URLs that are bypassing https for the layout still and I need to find out where to fix them.
As for the rest of the pages, there will always be "errors" (we'll never see the green SSL icon) because of external content, like signatures, videos or other user-posted images.

I'm getting 'this site has insecure data' popups, is that supposed to happen?

Yeah there should be a way of telling it to shut up, I did it for chrome.
It happens with any content not hosted on https or on mabination.com. Since this is a forum, it'll be on pretty much every page.

For Chrome, I just hit "load anyway" and it shut up.

Ugh... I am running windows 7 using Opera Browser up to the latest update.
Some of the recent post now says 3 day ago. Thought it corrected itself after a refresh. Eerie.

I got the front forum page (forum.php) to get the green SSL icon in the navigation bar.
That's probably as good as it will get, threads and the front page, probably PMs and profiles too, will all show the error of non-secure content because it's not hosted on mabination and/or isn't secured by SSL on whatever source it's from.
Though as far as the nation side of things is concerned, SSL is up and running smoothly and is encrypting your forum activity.
I'll make an official announcement with proper info soon.
