I'm curious about the whether the critical stat is just showing the critical chance of the weapon or whether the bonus from the critical skill and stat bonuses factor in? I've just started messing with my Lann again, and I see a lot of people say the have a 99% crit chance but I've never seen anyone's crit stat be greater than 60. Which would imply that even with fury infusion nobody is getting more than an 80% crit chance. Thanks in advance.

From what I remember, it displays the weapon's critical chance along with the Will stat and Critical Hit skill bonuses. Then there's some math with the bonus stats and monster's critical defense. I don't know the specifics so wait until someone with more knowledge comes along~

Thanks for your response. The other reason I ask is because I checked on my Evie, who's critical stat is exactly 33 which is the exact same a my base weapon not including the bonus from magic critical or agility. I'm not sure if this could just be a weird glitch on evie's part though due to her critical cahnce differing from all the other characters by being magic and agility based instead.

Evies don't get the same critical as the other characters, her critical stat depends on agility and the Magic Critical Hit skill, so it might be displayed differently.

So after checking. All four of my characters critical stat exactly match what is listed on the weapon. And I double checked by referencing the Vindictus database. All the critical chances listed on the weapons match the database so they are not being affected by stats either. So it appears that the critical stat merely shows the base critical chance of your weapon. I don't know if this is a bug or a "feature" though.
But this begs the question. How do people know exactly what their crit chances are? Are the merely calculating their crit chances from the determined formulas given? And if there is no way to determine numerical your true critical chance from the game, how did that formula even get tested for truth?
Edit:
Also, from what I've found, your crit chance increases by 1% every 62.5 wil you have on a melee character. I haven't been able to find a statement verifying if the it's the same rate of increase using agility on evie's bolt magic. Does anyone know if you gain 1% crit chance on evie every 62.5 agility or is it some different ratio for magic critical chance?

Status window shows weapon crit + crit gained from enchants.
It does not show your crit you get from the skill, WIL, or the base 3% chance given.
The 1% crit every 62.5 WIL you're getting is from a slightly out-dated formula. Newer ones can be found here:
http://boswerlk.webs.com/vind.html?nxid=15
[Critical]% = (([WIL] / 2000) * 0.15 + [Critical Hit Skill]% + [Weapon Critical]% + [Enchant Critical]% - [Critical Resistance]) + 0.03
[Magic Critical]% = (([AGI] / 2000) * 0.3 + [Magic Critical Hit Skill]% + [Weapon Critical]% + [Enchant Critical]% - [Critical Resistance]) + 0.03

Thanks for the great information. I had seen that website a while ago but lost the address. It's good to have a link to it again.
Edit:
So according to that website. Critical chance caps at 50%. So does that mean the people who said they had a 99 crit stat were lying or is that the cap after the crit resist is factored in?

Yeah, the cap is after resist is factored.
So the highest crit you'd want is 101 total up to episode 10, unless you want to crit Lionotus at 50% chance...

... Seriously?
No one mentioned that crit chance is capped at 30% no matter how much you have?
The whole reason to get more than 30% is to buffer against an enemy's protection stat. Each prot will lower your crit chance by 2%.
For example, if a monster has 20 protection, you'd need a minimum of 70% critical chance in order to activate critical hits 30% of the time.
From the mabi wiki
Players conducted a trial in which a person with 90% critical attacked a Black-tailed Mongoose (which has 16 Protection). Using the above formula, the chance for critical should have been 58%. However, out of 3308 attacks, only 989 criticals were observed; a cap of ~30%.
