Whenever I return from the lock screen, my windows will flicker if they're run maximized. For example, if I have Microsoft Word open, black lines will continue to flash across the screen. If I put it into a windowed mode, it will stop, but when I return it to the maximized view, the flickering returns.
Any ideas?

First thing that comes to mind is a dying GPU (wtf you got it not too long ago D:)...
If not that, then it's some kind of OS corruption. ):
Try updating the graphics driver in hopes that it'll overwrite whatever's broken?
You can also disable the translucent Aero theme which will prevent Windows from using your GPU to hardware accelerate the rendering of the windows, which may then prevent the flickering. Not a fix by any means, more like an interesting test. u_u

Different computer. This is on a laptop my parents bought two days ago.
It seem's that I'm king of GPU destruction. //sigh//

If it's only 2 days old, then there is nothing (within reason) that you could have done to make it die. Even NVIDIA chips take at least a year before they kill themselves. <_<
So it's either a software issue (initial drivers with bugs in them) or your parents got a defective unit. I'd suggest returning it.

I had the same problem with a computer some years ago. I also suggest returning it. They company should provide you with a new one mailed to your house or the store you bought it from in a week or so.

It seems like it was a driver problem. After checking a few things, a few parts of the driver weren't installed correctly in the factory settings of the unit. I updated it, and everything has been fine up to this point.
