So the cat is making a modded version of the card game BANG!
http://www.amazon.com/BANG-La-Pallottola-The-Bullet/dp/B001037L8K
BANG! is basically a card version of mafia
where you have life points and cards with various effects such as attacks and
Roles are hidden except the Sheriff which is like the mayor of the town. While everyone knows who he is, he starts out with an additional max life point. Also each round begins with the Sheriff.
Current life points determine the amount of cards you can have in your hand, so it's vital to avoid dmg and keep it up. The range of max life points is 3-5 (meaning the amount of hits you can take before dying)
There are three "teams", Outlaws, The Lawbringers and the Renegade
(you won't know who your teammates are since the roles are hidden! allows for deception)
outlaws win when the Sheriff dies
Lawbringers win when the Outlaws and Renegade are dead
Renegade are basically the serial killer, the goal to kill everyone. The sheriff last. You do this by deceiving everyone and pretending to be a lawbringer. Roles are only shown upon death, so you can keep track of who died so far.
The game is largely deception and also luck since the seating will determine who you can attack initially. Everyone starts with being only able to attack at the range of "1" which is basically the people directly to your left and right. Anyone farther increases the distance by increments of 1. Being aggressive is encouraged as the reward for each kill is drawing 2 cards (that determine your action)
The cat's version involves all the roles being visible with a few twists
There are 3 teams
Predators, prey and scavenger
One of the predators will be the top predator, basically a Sheriff. But the game doesnt end with his death. This game requires complete elimination of enemies.
Normal predators may finish off the top predator when he is at 1 life point to claim the role of top predator.
Designer note: this is a method to deny the prey from obtaining kill rewards and to also strengthen the predators.
Prey are outlaws. The number of prey is always "Predators +1"
Scavenger is the lone wolf that draws card whenever another player is eliminated.
Designer note: the scavenger is a very difficult role to play in the early game, especially since all the roles are visible. However, he becomes stronger with each player eliminated and thus shines if he lives to the late game.
Yes all the roles are visible.
this is an example of a seating of 8 players with roles randomly distributed

Here's where the cat needs help
What should the goal of everyone be?
Initially this is what the cat came up with
Predator's goal is to eliminate all the prey and the scavenger
Prey's goal is to eliminate all the predators
Don't know what to do with the scavenger
