I use PaintTool SAI. This is what I normally do with my drawings:
- Draw with the pen.
- Make a second layer and put it underneath the first, and then colour in.
- Use Airbrush for shading.
I know this method is wrong, because there's that whole fine art step.
Moreover, I don't think I'm using the right "tools" either.
Could someone give me instructions, show me videos, or anything?

To render, you gonna need something like GIMP.
Because you're gonna need a refined erase tool.
One of which allows you to adjust the size of the eraser as well as create a different size for it.

You can become a pirate and visit the bay to find photoshop downloads.
Rendering just needs Magic Eraser and other tools.
I really suck at rendering though :<.

I thought all you ever needed for rendering was the pen tool o3o;

I've never done it.
I don't know how you do it,
and I know what rendering is (the definition, I mean), but I don't know what it is, at the same time.
If you know what I mean. >>

Well Pawl Wall showed me this amazing tutorial thread on rendering for idiots, and all you really need is Photoshop (which is easy to pirate).

Rendering is taking out the background of a certain pic right?
Like keep the character of an anime and make a siggie with her.

Yup, except it's sorta tricky for me.
Also, thanks for the tutorial.. but what about fine art?
Like, I'm no good with highlights and shadows, and everything.
And I have no idea how to do it.

You color everything as if you're using a color pencil!

Okay, no. But seriously, to really draw... You'll have to practice and learn from experience.

I've been drawing since I was four.
I think I got into manga four years ago, and I never learned the proportion guidelines.
It was all purely practice, and overtime my drawings improved.
(That is, if I compared the first drawing I ever drew to my best.)
I also do sketches, shading, colouring, portraits, and stuff like that..
I just don't find it as fun, if you know what I mean. xD
I have no idea how to do line art, or anything, though, it's something I need to start practising, I guess T.T
In fact I actually got accepted to Wexford School of the Arts in Canada,
but I turned that down a year ago cause of transportation.
They offered to teach animation and computer art .___.;;
So I guess I'll have to learn this by myself, again. Dx
Thanks for the video.

No problem, I taught art to myself anyway.
Kinda started on these about 2 years ago.
