A Los Angeles teenager convicted of rape in 2002 has been cleared after his "victim" admitted lying.
Brian Banks was sentenced to ten years in prison for raping Wanetta Gibson when he was 16 years-old. He entered a 'no contest plea' and served five years.
Soon after he was released in 2007, Ms Gibson contacted him on facebook with the words "let bygones be bygones". She admitted he was innocent but was concerned she would have to pay back the $1.5m the school gave her in damages at the time.
Mr Banks agreed to meet her and videotaped her with the help of the California Innocence Project.
He gave BBC Radio 5 live Up All Night's Rhod Sharp his first international interview along with his lawyer Justin Brooks.

Seriously, what a bitch. I read about this a couple days ago in the newspaper.
She was all in it for the money and didn't even care that her friend had to sit in jail for 5 years. The guy had a potential career as a professional football player as well.

yes.. everyone else said it for me
how disgusting :(
reminds me of this video i saw where girls in a taxi had falsely claimed the driver had molested them, but there was video evidence proving they just had a spat about the girls smoking in the car. they just made up a story merely because he pissed them off by not allowing them to smoke. nothing happened to the girls for their false accusations which really pisses me off, they should be jailed or fined for that

So she ruins a man's career, takes 5 years of his life away (during which he was probably genuinely raped himself), pockets $1.5m for free, and then has the nerve to say "let bygones be bygones"?
It boggles my mind how someone can be so irrationally selfish like this. She either cannot see past her own point of view and put herself in other people's shoes, or is simply evil. Either way, mentally crippled.

Then there's the fact that she now claims he bribed her for 10k to say that she was not raped never mind the fact that he has no money. It just gets worse and worse. SUE HER.

People are people. Some are victims, some are perpetrators. Hopefully she gets what's coming to her. I know this one nurse got away with killing her fiance doctor and bragged about it over the radio years later. It amazes me how people can completely get away with a crime and then ruin it regardless.

It's not just 5 years he'll never get back.
It's a crucial 5 years he has lost, ones that should have gone to college while still under age 21.
She ruined his life, taking advantage of a justice system that refuses to improve itself.

As he was eyeing the NFL, he probably would have been a one-and-done out of college if he was good enough. Despite that, this imprisonment was devastating for someone who would currently be in his prime and should have been developing his football skills for several years. If he ever makes it into the NFL, he'll probably be wary of groupies.

She doesn't even have the money to pay back what she stole from the school, so she'll probably end up in jail and leave the care of her two children to who knows what person. Thanks to her, the state will lose taxpayer money from Brian Banks suing the state for wrongful imprisonment.

Eh...he could sue her for whatever Joker said and have her imprisoned since she wouldn't be able to pay it.
That or someone he knows will kill/beat her to a pulp.
Or again the legal system will do nothing and she'll just go "oopsies~" wink and then go home. Wait that pretty much already happened..
