No sooner did Blizzard offer up two new virtual beasts for World of Warcraft players to buy—one mount, one pet—than did the fanbase queue up in the tens of thousands to buy them, netting Blizzard millions.
Blizzard put the Celestial Steed mount and Lil' XT pet up for sale today, priced at $25 USD/20€ and $10 USD/10€, respectively. According to a report from WoW.comf, the queue to grab these virtual items from Blizzard's store at one point topped 140,000 people, with waits of more than 7 hours to download the digital beasts.
The quick math puts that somewhere between $1.4 million and $3.5 million in revenue for Blizzard in just a matter of hours. Not surprising, considering the 220,000 Panderan Monks that World of Warcraft fans snapped up last year, just... OK, it's still pretty damn surprising.

Queue for Celestial Steed and Lil' XT is above 140,000
Those are ugly pets...
and it's more expensive than nexon
the cat hates Blizzard fans

This will set a precedent, as I told a friend who plays WoW and says this doesn't concern him, Blizzard is "testing the waters" before going all out. It won't suprise me when you get your typical F2P cash shop on WoW.
Cute pets are fine and dandy, they don't do anything but looking cute (and hell if i know, that pandaren monk is freaking cute). But having a mount that can scalate to top speed depending if you have one of those with you is bad, really bad. I have yet to check Blizzard's forums (lazy, lazy, lazy...) but I'm expecting quite the crapstorm.

Blizzard will be so rich if they ever implement cash shop.

Blizzard.. Really needs to stop milking "Warcraft"
It was better before it had "World" in front of it..

I think the Celestial Steed mount looks really cool though.

But the more the milk it, the more money they get. I think Blizzard cares more about their income then their customers~~.

Still, this is a ridiculous experiment
The activision part of Activision Blizzard is gonna turn Blizzard into greedy corporates
not even Nexon NA is this overpriced
