Well, there's no reason to beat around the bush! Bet it would've pissed off some copyright dudes though... and I guess the types who hate when anyone "copies" things.

Which is all stupid, because creativity almost always involves copying and modifying.
For proof of this, see every RPG in existence almost. Or every variation of "Save the kingdom from a insert dark force here"
So what if sony copied the general idea of super smash brothers? I haven't seen the trailer yet, but as long as they didn't copy the gameplay exactly and made their own take on it nothing is wrong in my opinion.
It does sound interesting, too bad I'm still mostly in the last generation of gaming consoles, especially once I move out and loose access to the families 360 and Wii. At least i will still have my gamecube and ps2.

They're probably trying to appeal to the same crowd so they're going to want a ton of views by people interested in SSB.

I just like how ~20% of the first 300 people disliked it, while less than 40% liked it. The ratio of dislikes to likes has got to be a record for a video game company's channel.
Edit:
LOL
I just looked up the video. It now shows "1,818 likes, 3,272 dislikes".

Youtube only actively updates views for the first 300, but in many cases it'll go slightly over 300 before it cuts off. After that, anyone else won't see the real view count until it updates. Ratings, on the other hand, are displayed instantly.
People are being douchey over a game that isn't even out yet just because it looks similar to another game. There really is no basis for this. They don't have to like the video, but to make the decision that the game is gonna suck for reasons like that at this point in time is ridiculous. This is brand new to the world of Playstation.

I saw the fat baby... and I was okay.
I saw Sly Cooper... still I was fine.
I saw Parappa the Rapper... and lost all interest in this game.
But then... I never liked Super Smash Brothers either, nor practically any game that pulled characters from different universes and pitted them against each other.

What, Parappa the Rapper is awesome. I would love to control him in a Beat em Up.
Though the Ink Ribbon guy would the the raddest thing ever.

Color me intrigued, but I don't want to pay for a PS3 at this point.

I actually enjoyed the Sly games when I was younger. I have all 3 stashed away somewhere.

Perhaps I should mention that I don't have necessarily have problems with any of the individual franchises on their own. It's when they're mashed together in games like this that I want to run away screaming.
