So my laptop has started shitting out for god knows what reason - overheating, lagging, ping spikes (I'm pretty sure it's my computer and not my multiple wifi connections), blah blah blah. I'm done with allllll that.
I just bought Diablo 3 and my computer should have enough to run it perfectly fine but it's impossible to play with the amount of lag ._. annoying as ever.
I need a new computer, and this time I want a desktop ._. Laptops have not served me well in the past. It has to be under like $1200 though.. and that's pushing it. (monitors and keyboards and stuff can't be too much above that either).
Don't really know how to build a computer and that doesn't really appeal to me, even though it might save a few bucks, buying the parts is just too much of a hassle. I can buy from newegg or amazon, or whatever (american shipping is fine), but it just needs to actually be able to run games on high settings without overheating like my laptop does now.
See, my friends are not tech savvy, asian as they are, so heelpppp nation people pls.

What are the specs on your laptop, anyway? If the specs are decent, then either your Windows installation got screwed up, or the thing's clogged with dust. :( Before giving up on the system, I'd wipe the OS and see if the fans and heatsinks can be cleaned. Some models are easy to take apart to clean, others not so much.
If you are determined to build a desktop, however...
NCIX.com is a great place to buy parts and they are actually physically based in Vancouver, so you don't even have to buy online and deal with shipping. The nice thing about them is that they will price match parts from other Canadian online retailers like Newegg, TigerDirect, Memory Express, Canada Computer, etc. I believe they can put the parts together for you for a small fee, although I don't remember the specifics and I'm too lazy to dig through their site so you should perhaps call them or see one of their stores and ask. Their customer service, at least online, is pretty good--I've used them to buy two builds' worth of parts already, not counting upgrade parts. :)
The only issue I've had was the massive tower case I ordered being damaged during shipping.. twice. But at least their customer service works well and it's been dealt with. Don't trust shipping carriers with your parts, especially if they are huge ones like cases.
In any case (no pun intended), if their PC building service works like I vaguely remember it does, then it'll work very nicely in your favour as you'll have complete control over the types of parts and their prices that go into your build--all from one supplier. Coming up with a tailored build would then be a piece of cake.. which I think others here can do in my stead! Or I might come up with one later if I have a bit of time to spare.

I'll let Yoorah handle the Desktop stuff, since I'm more Laptop-savvy. Have you ever cleaned out the fan/vents for your laptop? I was browsing notebookreview about laptops one day and one person mentioned how he was never going to buy another gaming laptop again, because his current one couldn't play TF2 on Low settings, as his GPU would reach 95C. To make a long story short, he eventually sent it back to the reseller and guess what? The reason why he couldn't even run TF2 was this:
His vents were completely clogged with dust. They cleaned out the vents for him and his laptop was perfectly fine. His GPU was a 570M, which was 2nd to the 580M, the fastest gpu of last year. If this does happen to be the case, I recommend cleaning out your laptop once every month or so. All it takes is a can of compressed air, and removing the back of your laptop to access the fans. The Can goes for $5-10 USD (I don't know how to convert USD to Canadian prices, sorry). Also, what kinds of temperatures are you seeing on it anyway? You can download GPU-Z to check the tempts on your GPU, along with HWMoniter for your CPU and GPU. Your choice :hot:

It's actually
this laptop.
I really really hate reinstalling windows, and the laptop is tricky to open. Idk how to get to the fan, there's only open parts for RAM, etc. My friend did tell me to clean out the fan and I was planning on doing that but now that I had a look, I have no idea how.
*edit
Also, for the temperature, it's to the point where I can't use the touchpad at all, it burns. I warm my dinner on it sometimes.

If you can, ask a friend or someone who has decent dexterity to open up the laptop and help put it back together
and by dexterity, they can work well with their hands and tools
the cat's master opens up the cat's laptop like 4 times
dunno if NCIX charges shipping or taxes.
anyways
monitor. LED would be nice. make sure it's 1980x1080 resolution
http://ncix.com/products/?sku=57310&vpn=VE247H&manufacture=ASUS
mouse. go with something wired
wireless runs out of batteries too fast
doesn't need to be too expensive $10-20 is fine price
keyboard. wired keyboard
same thing. doesn't need to be too expensive

I have no idea how to open to the fan! I can't see the fan when I open the bottom!
*edit
I unscrewed the complete bottom, and tried to pry off the keyboard layer. All the bits popped open pretty easily except for one spot in the middle above the touchpad that wouldn't come apart. Pretty much gave up. Didn't want to break anything. Saw the fan, but it's covered by a lot of metal, so idk how effective spraying compressed air at it is.
Friggin exhausting ._. My mom can be so.. ugh... about technology =_=

I was just about to say it looks like a daunting task just looking at the bottom of it from the link you gave. Toshiba didn't do a good job designing this laptop, or just made it this way so when it overheats/dies or whatever, you have to get a new one :D. I'm not sure if this video will help much. . .because it doesn't seem to be the exact same model as yours. I can't really find a disassemble guide for your laptop but. . .
Maybe it can help. My Lenovo Ideapad y470 is much easier to take apart, and Deitylight's Sager Np8130 is even easier x_x. . .

Ah, that video is like, of my dad's laptop. Completely different x_x
For mine, basically, the whole front peels off. The monitor is attached to the bottom, and the top part including the power button and keyboard and touchpad can be pried off. I just didn't want to force it, I felt like I was going to break something.
