Origin's checking your complete ProgramFiles data, not sure why. People say it's because they want to look for cracked EA-distributed games, but I don't know, haven't delved to much into it. You can apparently block it with some program called Sandboxie though, so it's harmless.
Maybe you can handle it with some restrictive security settings too.
There's also lots of slippery-slope DRM nervosity amongst some people, but I'm not really one of those "nothing or all"-type of guys so I do't care, and I suggest you don't either because it's fallacious. You can still take action where it actually does reach a critical point, instead of where the stuff that is happening is harmless. You wouldn't advocate dissolving the police and law system because some people can be incarcerated injustly either.
Diablo 3 is a good specific case where it's taken too far.
