I honestly think it's the coloring style Juju used.
Seems outdated, to me. Though Juju does draw great.

Ya I also liked the sketch version better, I love works that look semi-incomplete. I also thought the coloring on that commission felt weak (and outdated). But it could of been caused by the original worked I based it off, I dunno. At the end I didn't feel fully satisfied.
