Retardism is actually a global epidemic
just like obesity
The cat is right. People are people, where ever you go. And it's ALWAYS "Us vs Them", whether its nationality, religion, the rival high school, or the darn Jones' next door.
And Culture.
America is a baby country. We are only two hundred years old. We didn't have any power until after world war II. We are still young and ...stupid. *shakes head* Not stupid. (We hammer that square peg in or invent a machine to do so!) But very brash. Our settlers are those that left everything they knew for a strange land. That's likely where this over-blown stubbornness/pride comes from.
Our first settlers were religious zealots. Puritans. So now we have a complex. Serious sex talk is taboo, so we can't get enough of it. And yeah, we are fat. Most industrial countries are getting fatter. Too many great video games!
Democrats are tagged as liberal (they side with gays, abortion rights, etc) and Republicans are conservative (prudes that use religion despite the "separation of church and state"), and with a he-said, she said struggle... and i swear a lot of the strife is pure spite. AND THE FREAKING LOBBYISTS! Lobbyists are people that are paid to talk senators over to their side. Think tobacco or oil industries. And the "clean coal" commercials they put out make me laugh. The only people that believe that crap are the same ones that say "the bible says" but has never read it for themselves. (The bible also says that you can't cut the edges of your beard, Leviticus 19:27. The previous chapter was the one that said gays are abominations. Read for yourself, and laugh at all the preachers who dare cut their beards but rail against gays. Take the whole bible or nothing, sheesh.)
If only America had listened to President Roosevelt when he said, "Speak softly, but carry a big stick." We are terribly loud and like to show everyone how big our stick is, like the teenager country we are... and bluntly, I think we make the world more interesting for our pushy, idealistic ways.
