I had yellow, blue, gold, silver (lolwut), and then I lost interest in pokemon XD
I had Hey You! Pickachu!, Pokemon Stadium 1-2, and Pokemon Puzzle League for the N64.

I liked that game for some reason. Maybe it was because of the horrible translations or the humdrum battles but it really amused me.

Incorrect. There's 493+ now. :)

When pokemon black and white comes out, that number will increase to 500+, maybe even 600+ depending on how many new pokemon are released.

I probably have the most Pokemon games than you guys will ever have, although my brother plays them mostly, I still consider them mine. I have Red, Yellow, Blue, Green, Gold, Silver, Crystal, Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Fire-Red, a pirated chinese version of Fire-Red and Leaf-Green. I have Diamond and Pearl on my computer that I can easily insert into my flashcart, so technically I still have them, along with Soul Silver, Platnium, and Heart Gold. Most of the cartridges are just games my dad got when he went into mainland China for shopping at districts and stuff, so that's how I have Green in some random 45-in 1 game cartridge. :) Bought Crystal, Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald here in the U.S. More like my brother bought them though.
Never heard of Jade though. :o

So I'm playing Sapphire again and I already has my 6th badge, and this be my team, what you guys think :
•Swampert LV38
+Soft Sand
-Ice Beam
-Mud Shot
-Take Down
-Water Gun (lolwut?)
•Swellow LV27
-Fly
-Aerial Ace
-Double Team
-Quick Attack
•Vibrava LV35
-Crunch
-Dragonbreath
-Rock Tomb
-Earthquake
•Breloom LV29
+Miracle Seed
-Mach Punch
-Giga Drain
-Headbutt
-Iron Tail
•Gardevoir LV39
-Calm Mind
-Confusion
-Psychic
-Shadow Ball
6th pokemon is my travel hoar. I use it for surf, strength, and rock smash.
Almost every battle I've faced since the start has been pathetically easy.

Switch Swampert's Water Gun with Surf or just wait until Muddy Water, since that's what I'm assuming you're doing. Train up your Swellow and Breloom much? It's not good to have a few overpowered pokemon and some underpowered pokemon on your team, since you'll have nothing much to fall back on if your strong ones faint in battle. I suggest you get a Nuzleaf and teach Swampart Surf, since Nuzleaves are complete utility belts. Cut, Rock Smash, Strength, and another useful HM move.

There's already more than 500 Pokemon with the ones we know.
And I think you are right. We're bound to get over 600 total Pokemon next gen.

Thinking about it, 3 on 3 would be a little complex, unless you can switch pokemon positions. Then it would be more interesting.

You can switch positions during the battle.
Also...
1 2 3
4 5 6
Pokemon 4 cannot attack Pokemon 3.
Same for Pokemon 6 and Pokemon 1.
Unless it's a move that attacks everyone, of course.
It's a little more complex and it should be fun.

I just went to trade between my firered and emerald, and it said that my file had been deleted in emerald version, I almost threw it against the wall, it has 200 plus hours on it and a ton of pokemon, so in an act of desperation I put it in my DS (I borrowed the gameboys to trade) and the files back......IM SO HAPPY.

Lol, I think it would be a lot more complex. Imagine this set up:
[Sweeper] [Tank] [Sweeper]
Sweepers on the sides will allow full damage to the middle pokemon while the tank in the middle, be it Special, Physical, or both, will limit the damage that the side pokemon will do, often redirecting to the sweepers. This will also keep the sweepers in check only 66% of the turn each and keep status on the all the opposing pokemon for all of the turn.
Then there's
[Tank] [Sweeper] [Tank]
This will focus enemy fire onto the middle pokemon which can easily switch out of threats. For example, if someone wanted to get the edge on an early Focus Sash Lead, perhaps a set up like, Bronzong, Aerodactyl, Togekiss, then you can switch the Aerodactyl into a Spiritomb to push off Mach Punches and Close Combats it may see often. Not only that, but it keeps pressure on the opposing team with a Toxic from the Bronzong and Thunder Wave from the Togekiss.
All in all, my head hurts just thinking about it.
