about requesting tailoring??

  Depending on how close to ranking your friend is, he may be spending 1-2 million (I dont know prices on your server-- so numbers based on mari) just to have the opportunity to help you. While you could go to a tailor that is a higher rank, your friend is willing to grind tailoring to help you. That says a lot, and shouldn't be overlooked when deciding if this is a good deal for you.
  
  The part that is confusing me though-- you are acting as if you have to have enough materials to use the entire pattern all at once. I'd let your friend rank to r6, while collecting enough materials to finish one (or more) Vitos. Have him make a vito, sell it, and use the proceeds to buy the rest of the materials.

  Ranking Tailoring benefits him regardless, plus he'd get a multi-million item out of it. Hate to be pessimistic, but just because he's willing to grind, that doesn't mean it's to be a good friend.
  Not saying anything about the actual person, just that I don't think it's a good point to say you should go with somebody just because they're ranking the skill to use it.
  
  Making one and selling it is pretty smart. Having a crapload of mats for the entire pattern can be pretty inconvinient, seeing as tailoring just one of them uses like 40 squares of inventory.

  Optimism or pessimism, Bebepanales can give both perspectives the weight he thinks they deserve. He would understand his friend's motivation better than either of us.
  
  Maybe the solution could be something as simple as the tailor collecting the materials for the armor he keeps. (20-25% of the total materials + his grinding for rank.)

  Hadn't even thought of it. I'm just jaded that I fell in love with the most useless and un-appreciated skill in Mabinogi. I try to break out my tailoring kit for the betterment of the world whenever possible so I can, you know, sleep at night.
