School internet sucks. Limited connectivity problem which is a common occurence to everyone at times.
We tried playing games (there is no rule about computers and games during class). The connection before 9am is ok, but after 9am latency goes up and gets awful.
The good thing about this is that it's probably intended for people to focus in class. I'm re-learning 50% of the stuff that was taught before elsewhere, so I get bored easily. I don't mind having some access to Mabinogi while in class (or not having at all), but when internet webpages stop loading for some weird reason (probably it's the wireless access point denying us to internet) it gets irritating after a while. Mainly the lessons get dragged during tutorial, and because this is a bridging course the pace is for the benefit of the students who aren't local...
I can live with it but I wonder what I can do if I really need the internet at school and the internet at school ends up not being reliable for one particular day.
Just one more thing: they don't block mabination (thank god) but I also get stuff like this from time to time. "The page you requested has been blocked because it contains a banned word. URL =
http://mabination.com/search.php?searchid=466706 " Anyone knows a good bypass I can use for webpages like this?

It's what I used until they finally blocked https connections :I
They can still also track your every move.

My friend loves his school's internet. He lives in a dorm and he says its amazing.
Only downside is not being able to view certain content, and they know EVERYTHING that he does.

My College has free Wi-Fi and internet. It's pretty fast, I downloaded Mabinogi there before. We have to install a program to use it though, because it checks to see if your computer is protected behind a firewall and anti-virus, if not then it'll block you since your computer is unsafe. However, if you have a MacBook Pro, you'll just get on there instantly. Funny huh? Anyways, I use the Wi-Fi there most of the time. The downside is, if you have a terrible wireless internet card, you'll get a weak connection in certain buildings. The best place is in our main building where all the students hang out, on their laptops.
The internet at my high school sucked, because they have a filter that won't let you go to MANY websites. We had to use proxies and programs to bypass it to play online flash games.

Middle/High School, the filters were commonplace, and therefore, so were the proxy bypass. I played Steam games using those bypasses back in the days. :XD: Team Fortress Classic madness in the library.
Nowadays, the university I go to is very lenient on the internet, more so than most hotspots I go to. It's fast, safe, unrestricted (I have a few friends who look at naughty stuff on the internet on campus >_>; ), and generally very strong signal throughout the day, anywhere (plus a few close dorms/apartments). The only exception is this kind of bad lag that lasts for like... 30 minutes tops during around 10-11 AM every day; I'm guessing someone has to do video conference or something during that time.
It's great though; last time I checked speedtest.net, it says my university has the best internet stability and bandwidth of the whole city. Nothing like watching HD videos underneath a tree outside. =3

My Highschool had a profile that had counter strike installed, and a bunch of us guys in Graphic Arts class (Tons of computers there and the teacher lets us do whatever the hell we want as long as we finish our projects. And all we do in the entire class is easy projects) started playing multiplayer in it. It was hardcore epik...until the principle caught on and was a douche and put "Cameras" on all the computers saying that they will know whoever is looking at something they shouldn't and suspend them.
Oh yeah, and we got suspended too.

there's nothing wrong with playing counterstrike

As a teacher, I can openly say that I only browse forums during class 100% of the time.

All VIOLATIONS everywhere. Computers are constantly monitored. Pretty strict on everything. The internet's pretty fast, although they're all wired and I've never had a wired internet connection so I wouldn't know. :<
Although, I don't have many classes that use computers for various reasons and the only time we'd go into the library(where the computer workstation is) is when we need to research stuff for projects.

ssh tunnels will bypass most security nonsense like this and can go pretty far in the war against retarded access rules.
