To be honest, I don't know the stats for Canada's system, but I believe it is ranked decently in terms of quality. In the US, though, 100,000 people are killed in hospitals every year due to errors by the hospital staff. But again, I don't know how Canada compares with that figure so take it as you will, or look it up if you are curious. :P
Wait times can be a pain in the ass for non-emergency stuff, but it's bearable.

^ This.
I always hear people complain about how the wait times are long and painful, but if you're not dying from it then the wait times being longer than usual shouldn't be a problem. Canadians have it pretty good compared to a lot of other countries.

If you guys want an example, I stabbed myself with a knife and went to see a doc at 12:00 pm. The nurse told me I'll be seen in 4 hours. So my mom and I come back at 4:00 pm. Then we wait. Got called at 6~7:00 pm. But at least all I have left is a small scar on my left hand. Cost: 0$ and the gaz to go there.

I got infected with osteomyelitis and got treatment right away. :/
(luckily, my dad said no when they wanted to amputate my legs)

Shouldn't you be able to pay to get a higher quality of service somewhere? I'm pretty sure it's universal that money will buy you basically everything if you name the right price. I doubt Canada is exempt from that 'rule'.
