I recently moved and just managed to get internet working at my new place. But for some reason I am unable to connect to mabination without a proxy. I don't know why at all. I feel kinda useless, 2 years of computer repair and networking at a votech school taught me very little because the school system wouldn't let us get any real practice fixing peoples computers, because of the rare possibility that we MIGHT see porn on someones machines.
Anyway I tried changing my dns server to googles and turning off my firewalls, did nothing so I'm assuming its something beyond my control at the moment.

U GOT IP B&.
If you're curious, do a traceroute and see where your reachability breaks. The last couple hops in my path to mabination.com are:
9 39 ms 29 ms 29 ms eqix.chcg.twtelecom.net [206.223.119.36]
10 38 ms 39 ms 39 ms aby1-ar1-xe-0-0-0-0.us.twtelecom.net [66.192.242.50]
11 41 ms 40 ms 39 ms mabination.com [66.147.235.130]
...so if you can reach the aby1-ar1-xe-0-0-0-0.us.twtelecom.net node, but the next one times out, then Mabination's server/host/datacenter or something else closely related to the site is blocking you (or otherwise unreachable for whatever reason). Also note that mabination's gateway node to your ISP might be different from my twtelecom one, so it may not even be useful info. x) But it should be the same in most cases.

PM me your real IP without proxy and I'll see if it got firewalled for some reason.
If it did it means you or its previous owner done naughty things :D

I completely forgot about trace route, or more accurately the command that you use to run it. I tried it like 4 times typing out things like tracero or tracere before figuring i would look it up later and forgot to.
Anyway just ran a traceroute, saw it go through and tested to see if i could connect without the proxy, I could.
Suprised even myself, because just 12 seconds before I did the tracert i tried to access and it blocked me again.
Anyway, no idea what happened, but its working again! Now my only problem is my incredable download speed of 1.2mbps. I'm going to have to upgrade the internet package or something, its so slow.
I just realized i'm going to have to call the company and do this myself, living out on my own for the first time is way harder than i thought it would be.

1.2 Megabits (Mb), not Megabytes (MB). :P
A megabit is 8 time smaller, and download speeds are usually shown in MB/s (or technically MiB/s).
www.speedtest.net, on the other hand, measures your throughput in Mbps. Chances are you will get more than 1.2, unless your net sucks as well. :P
@Ninjam: What's the advertised speed? If it's much higher than what you're actually getting, then you will probably need to switch ISPs altogether. Some areas are better served by DSL, others are better served by cable.

Its about the advertized speed, we may not have switched the internet over from my gfs mothers name to ours, i think its the lowest data plan. I meant mbps, not megabytes, always get those acronyms confused.
Anyway, problem is fixed, i can somehow access, though how it is letting me i don't know.
