With projectiles, how much can you rank handicraft till?
I want to minimise the need for wooden boards.
The guides outdated then, might need a rewrite or so some other time.

You can get to r9 with projectiles.

Unless I'm missing something, projectiles will help through rC, but you'll still need to make boards to rank from rB onwards (unless you make rock kits or something). After rC, there's no reason to use projectiles since arrowheads cost 5.5k from NPC and it'd be cheaper to use fabric to make bandages.

Since Yogurticecream asked about projectiles, I included Finest Handmade Bolts, which I was under the impression were r8 items. I haven't played in a while, so I don't know whether or not they are attainable from an NPC.

Ah, they're rank 8 and easily attainable, but you can only make them when you're r8 handicraft anyway.

I have looked through the list and made some notes on the original guide, so that means it doesn't need a rewrite anymore.
From the looks of it, the hell ranks of handicraft seems to be A, 9 and 6 now unless they add in new things to make ranking it easier.

Isn't getting Wooden Boards from Hot Spring Monkeys an option? All you need is something like eggs for that.
Also, the bird in Tara take small colored(As in Red, green, etc.) gems with a chance for tough string. Haven't tried that one yet, but it's on Wiki.
Would these be good alternatives?

They all take a long time to gather. It would be faster to Balloon for boards, assuming you have r1 Firebolt, a CC+4 Fire Wand, and decent Int.

I find rafting to work best to get mats to make boards, since it throws in more training but most people can't make iron bars so it becomes a useless thing.
But if you have a godly firebolt and don't need anymore I suppose ballooning WOULD be a better option.

when i needed to fulfill the "make wooden boards" requirement,
i spammed castle for iron bars and advertised on here and on mabi that i was buying them. my guildies also knew i was looking for them so when they got a hold of some they gave them to me for free. for tough string rafting is good and not too hard. you can get 6 tough strings per raft, or you can buy them. when i was training it they were 6k each, which i thought wasn't too bad, since i have seen them for a lot more.
getting wooden boards from monkeys is a waste of time. like one time i fed 100 times and got 1 board. it's a bish to keep feeding them; it just takes such a long time.

* Yogurt's note: Rank C is now easier. You can make Fine Handmade Bolt to clear this rank, arrowheads are sold at certain NPCs. Best to get from Meles (Filia weapon store NPC). Gilmore in Bangor sells the manuals. Thanks to Kaeporo and Iyasenu for this information.
I'm not sure what you mean here. I checked in my handicraft list, and there is no "Fine Handmade Bolt" and when i try to put in the Bundle of Fine Bolt Heads it switches to the Fine Handmade Ballista Bolt Recipe. I checked at Gilmore and he only sells "Bundle of Fine Bolt Heads" recipe... so I'm not sure how to make the bolts themselves... help?
Edit: Checked wiki just now, apparently you need rank B handicraft to be able to make "Fine Handmade Bolt" you might want to change that from rank C

How about Finest Handmade Arrow? I think that should work for Rank C.
(I would check but I have exams in a few hours and I don't want to log into the game.)

Yeah, you make Finest Arrows. I know because that's what I used for rC.

Ok that's great. Anyway I also tried yesterday night, and ranked to Rank B with that method.
Anyway with the new fishing event going to NA, it's best to start mass fishing with a lot of mules. This event gives a lot of crabs (good for tailoring) and sunfishes which is good for handicraft I guess.
