Good Free Webhost?

This is an archive of the mabination.com forums which were active from 2010 to 2018. You can not register, post or otherwise interact with the site other than browsing the content for historical purposes. The content is provided as-is, from the moment of the last backup taken of the database in 2019. Image and video embeds are disabled on purpose and represented textually since most of those links are dead.

I decided it's time to find a good free webhost to host my own Portfolio.
It's either now or never.
I'm looking for a Webhost that is like Heliohost, able to support .co.cc Domains.
Hoping for no 000Webhost answers!
Since this is just a small website, I probably just need 1gb of space or lower.
And I don't really need a SQL database, and I'm hoping for a webhost that won't force you to put advertisements on.

Any suggestions?

Uh, no such thing as a free webhost without ads, you could try hosting the website on your PC.

Yes there is. They're hosts that use the Post2host approach. Instead of them putting ads on your website like I do when hosting people, a post2host service instead has you participate in their forum, requiring so many posts a month to maintain your service.

These hosts tend to be less stable than ad-driven or paid hosts though, because the profit margin from a post2host service is substantially lower than an ad-driven service.

What were you planning on making? I am the owner of SeraphimLabs LLC, a web hosting company that I established almost 3 years ago. Although most of my free plans do specify ads, I do offer a lot more flexibility in how they are implemented. Some really small project sites don't even get ads at all, as they see so little traffic that it isn't worthwhile.

I've always just used freewebs. I haven't noticed any ads on there(though maybe that's because I'm using adblocker?), though it's probably not good for professionals who want tons of customization in coding. I think it's good for simple things, if you're not into programming and stuff.

Some might use Deviant art as their portfolio, though it might be considered not professional by some people...
Though I have seen people get jobs from it(those who kept their DA clean of drama/unprofessional comments), it probably depends how picky the employer is...
