Ever since two prominent Namco and Capcom producers appeared at Evo 2010 in Las Vegas just over a week ago, rumors have run wild about a Namco vs. Capcom game. Game Informer has done some digging and found intel that will please Street Fighter and Tekken fans alike.
To catch people up, Namco Bandai's Katsuhiro Harada and Capcom's Yoshinori Ono playfully teased the crowd at the Evo fighting game tournament with some onstage banter (see video below). The most important information concerned a fighting game debut trailer set to go live on Saturday, July 24th during Comic-Con.
According to our sources, Capcom will make a Capcom vs. Namco game using the Street Fighter IV engine and Namco Bandai will create Namco vs. Capcom with the Tekken 6 engine. This means that each game will play and look like whichever company is creating it. Think hadoukens, Ultra Combos, and 2.5D presentation on the Capcom side and three dimensional movement, in-depth move lists, and most likely, a playable panda on the Namco side. Ono is rumored to produce the Capcom game, and we're guessing that Harada will handle the Namco end of things.
Capcom's done its fair share of fighting game crossovers before with companies like Marvel and SNK, but this could be the first time that two totally separate games are produced simultaneously. Be sure to come on back this Saturday to see if our information rings true.

A very great awesome idea. Too bad that most people would probably go with Namco's since it's in "3D" and has "Better graphics". Unless you're an avid fighter player.
Street Fighters with Tekken 6 engine? Since I haven't played Tekken 6, but is the match pretty much decided the moment someone starts juggling still?

Doesn't sound well to me, having TWO games of the same idea, just on different engines.
It's easy breeding ground for fanboy wars, just like Xbox 360 vs. PS3.

Pretty good idea splitting them up, but like Zid said, Breeding ground for fanboy wars.

Street Fighter x Tekken will undoubtedly sell better than Tekken x Street Fighter. I believe Street Fighter has better gameplay and a better art style.

I like this idea.
And I do like SF gameplay, but I love tekken characters.
So perfect >:D.

Ohmygosh, I was at this panel. People were going crazy and the Tekken creator crashed the Street Fighter panel with some Tekken cosplayers and it was intense. Everyone was screaming and then they both versed each other in a demo of the game and I have to say, the graphics were amazing. /huntsfortheonlypictureItook @@
Okay, got it. /crapqualityftwOTL

...That sounds like quite the story.
IRL Namco vs. Capcom.
