  They seem to be picky. I tried giving my manservant eluned alch glasses as his 1st or 2nd item and he refused saying "what do i do with this?", I tried again after I gave him a weapon, shield, and a different hat, then he took them. However, if when you are trying to equip both and they are already both in their possession, I couldn't tell you. I just unequipped them both, then reequipped for dual wield without tabbing to the alternative weapon slots

  I gave my maid a broadsword on the first day, and a 2nd broadsword on the 2nd day, on right hand slot again. She took it, but (i forgot) i think i had to equip it myself in her inventory so she would dual wield.

  Ya I figured it out the other day. It needs to be the same weapon for them to dual wield it.
