What is the best armor that a Sword Lann can wear?
If someone could give me the best hybrid set and best full set that'd be much appreciated.
On a personal note, I'm currently wearing the Passionate Debueruke set (that I'm selling here: http://vindictus.nexon.net/Community/#%2Fshowthread.php%3F438570-S-gt-Passionate-Debueruke-Set%26nxid%3D15 (Shameless advertising )), but recently have crafted the Raider set. As I'm looking around I'm noticing people aren't actually wearing the Raider set, but have it for its cosmetic counterpart.
My question is, should I move into the Raider set and eventually hybrid it with the apocryphal set (Raider hat, chest, legs with Apocryphal gloves, shoes). Also I'm going to be using these sets free of enchants and at +5 enhancement at most.
The only reason I'm considering the Raider set is due to the large amount of strength, but is the defense that I give up something I should be more wary of?

In addition, I'm thinking of mixing it with Swift in a 3:2 ration until I can get to 70. Would that be a better choice?

- Raider's Set is Cosmetic and Atk not for Def use Raiders if you are a pro Lann. You know not getting hit much.

- If you aren't too good there is always the Basic Swift Gloves Boots Black hammer chest greaves and helm.

- Passionate Debu is Eh.

- Whole Apo set would be good due to it bieng the lv 70 set but it costs a lot.

- But since you aren't lv 70 you can't wear the Apo. So Swift Hammer is good. When you are lv 70 I guess you could wear Apo Boots and gloves with either Raider or Black Hammer.

It's best to try and hang around at least 7000-8000 Def regardless of your skill level. At that range, you can afford to take hits from certain moves. A lot of bosses have situations where you're unable to dodge no matter what you do. It also offers more options for if you wish to branch out into a Hybrid Lann and get a Spear.

Without any enchants, you'll get 72 Strength from Passionate to Raider's. That's only around 200 Attack, for about 1200 Defense. It's not a very good trade and Raider's is only used as an offensive option if you Well Balanced/Force the whole set (as it's Light Armor). A Raider's/Apocryphal is still only a gain of around 108 Strength, barely any better for attack.

If you do intend to switch sets, try running 3 BH 2 Apocryphal. The Apocryphal Shoes and Gloves are significantly cheaper than all other Lv. 70 gear (by the nature of only requiring breakoffs and trash drops from 24 man Elchulus), and you should be able to get them for about the same price as some 60 gear.

So BH Helm/Tunic/Pants with Apocryphal Gloves/Shoes is probably your best bet. It'll beat a plain Raider's in attack as well as give you an extra 900 Def over the Passionate set. Feel free to invest in Swift Gloves/Shoes to hold you over until you hit Lv. 70 if you still need some time.

Just remember, more Defense means you can be more aggressive as there's less risk. It also means less dying. These two things combined will increase your damage output in most situations.

@Invertex Thanks for the in-depth post, that actually makes a lot of sense. I was hoping that I could actually use the raider set. So I guess my best bet is to use the swift/BH combo in the end. I really dislike that set, haha. Do you think I could still wear the Raider/Swift set in a 2:3 combo with Oceans Embrace - or is there any method of actually wearing the Raider equips in an efficient manner? Thanks for all the help though!

Ocean's Embrace is a good ring, however it's only 100 Defense. You're going to have a severe lack of defensive stats due to not using enchants, so it really won't compensate enough.

Typically you'll use Solid Thor Leather Belt, Ghostly Ring, Ocean's Embrace, Warrior's Courage Emblem, and a Nose Ring. It's cost effective and offers balanced set of stats for a relatively low cost. The alternative is dropping the Ghostly Ring and Thor Leather Belt and using a second Ocean's Embrace and a Evil Monster's Leather Belt.

I'd go with the 2 part Dreamwalker set bonus anyways, as it's good if you're using a Dreamwalker Twin Sword. Even if you're using the Twin Saber, it's still pretty effective.

Raider's is a really "all in" set up. It's not very viable in a party where you have to take into account lag, unpredictable AI, and other people. In theory it's the best if you can expect perfect playing, but that's really really hard to pull of. It's also not a big enough boost to your attack unless you enchant it. But in a +5 no enchant set up, it doesn't boost your stats by enough to make it worth it.

With enchants, you could throw on Well Balanced and Force onto all the parts and then you're looking at a ton of Attack Speed, Balance, and 500 attack instead: but this is with enchants. Without them the Raider's set is largely outclassed.

However, if you just have to use the Raider's set, I could suggest having two sets. It's not uncommon for some players to own two sets, and while it's very costly to own two double enchanted sets: it'd only be about a 20m investment for you to own two +5 sets. If you're not having too much trouble staying alive with your old Passionate set, you should be okay to run around with a Raider's/Apocryphal.

It's still 1.1k Defense for only about 60-70 Attack. So I'm not a huge fan of that trade off. For efficiency, it's still best to run the BH/Apocryphal mix. The Raider's/Apocryphal will work: but it's just not as good.

Edit: Oh right, and since this is for Lann. Agility is still very important, BH/Apocryphal has a gigantic (~70) Agility advantage over Raider's/Apocryphal.

I'm also ignoring the Swift mixes largely due to the fact that it's more effective to sink money into a set you can use for a while rather than a set that will only last you 5 levels. Swift pieces are fairly expensive, so just waiting to get the Apocryphal parts is more effective.

@Invertex, oh man. You're a big help. A current update on my situation is, I'm using 2 swift 3 raider. And I'm not dying a larged increased amount, although I do chug more pots.
Currently I'm using +10 raider twin swords, So I'm thinking of keeping the evil belt and using 1 ocean's embrace combined with the warrior set.
I think what I'll do is use the raider set, until I can afford the BH and then fuse it. Thanks so much!

Make sure you get a 3 Star Warrior's Courage Ring then, otherwise the Ocean's Embrace will outclass it.

2 Star Warrior's Courage Ring (+ Set Bonus) will give you: 38 Strength, 44 Agility, 10 Willpower, 55 Attack.
3 Star Warrior's Courage Ring (+ Set Bonus) will give you: 43 Strength, 50 Agility, 11 Willpower, 55 Attack.
Ocean's Embrace will give you: 40 Strength, 40 Agility, 40 Willpower, 100 Defense.

2* vs Ocean's Embrace, you're looking at 4 Agi and about 50 Att versus 30 Will and 100 Def.
With a 3* however, the gap is quite a bit larger. 10 Agi and around 65 Att versus 29 Will and 100 Def.

Compared to the cases where you sacrifice 1000+ Defense for 60 Att, this is much more reasonable.

It also wouldn't [S]help[/S]hurt to look at investing in a 3* Warrior's Courage Emblem as well. It provides only 3 extra of each stat compared to the 2*, but any small boost is better than none.

Solo spamming Hidden is the fastest for any character, though there are a few alternate methods.

Hidden is the most common though, and it works perfectly fine. With your curent equipment, you should be able to run straight fowards and clear it within ~5 minutes per run, excluding load times. Just make sure to tack on the best EXP oath you can find.

Really any solo raid offers amazing EXP. You get the full base EXP (which was designed to be split amongst 6 people), as well as the Oath EXP (which you always get the full EXP from).

Adding on to this, get a pair of cheap yet decent spears. Makes hidden ezpz(er).

Well it's 2 levels, spamming with Swords wouldn't be too bad.

Though I'd get a Spear regardless, there are a few raids where a Spear can perform pretty well without completely stacked Defense. Though a +10 Sword will usually outperform a +5 Spear, so it's not too pressing.
