Did I ever tell you whippersnappers about the time I almost became a true Pokemon Master?

I was around ten and Pokemon Gold and Silver had come out. After beating the game, me and my friends trained our pokemon to as high levels as we could. Fighting Red, the Pokemon League, and that trainer in that building in Viridian city with the level 50 starters, eventually me and my best friend got our chosen pokemon to level 100. We were the only ones who had persevered that far, and thus we did battle. At lunch time all the kids in our class watched as I rose victorious in our epic battle. Apparently it was pretty epic, because other kids, in our class as well as others, would challenge the both of us to battle after training their own pokemon to level 100. I never lost. Eventually I thought of something; I wanted to catch em all. For some reason, nobody around had ever done it. But I was determined. My friends would say that I wouldn't be able to, but I ignored them. It took a lot of trading, a lot of breeding, and a lot of batteries, but eventually I had obtained every pokemon. Every pokemon except Mew and Celebi. Now back then, we didn't know about the glitch in Red/Blue to get a Mew. And we also didn't know it was impossible to obtain a legitimate Celebi. I tried many things my friends would tell me, like talking to the game director with my filled pokedex to obtain Celebi/Mew, and something I don't quite remember, taking 250 steps in a certain place or something to that degree, but I never got either one. I still never lost a link battle, I still don't know how. And eventually I went on to a new school for 6th grade. Eventually Ruby/Sapphire came out. Eventually I lost interest in Pokemon (until college anyway). Even after all these years, I still have never had a Celebi. I missed the Soul Silver/Heart Gold Wifi event for one, and to this day he is still my most sought after pokemon.
