I regularly learn it and beyond that in our Red Cross meetings. Haven't attended them for a few weeks though so I guess I don't actually learn it regularly.

I was certified... I need to take a refresher course, ahaha. CPR procedure changes almost every year- I try to keep up to date, but it's not the same as taking the class all over again.

I have the app on my phone LOL, I didn't get to take classes in HS but i'll have to be certified by my freshman year of college I think.
I do know basic first aid and survival skills, though most of them aren't helpful in a situation like the one you described...more if you sprain an ankle while hiking or something.

Do you think you'll have time to pull up that app when you find yourself in a life-threatening situation?
A little bit of training can potentially prevent a whole lot of regret.

Oh, I definitely wouldn't pull it up or try to, but I have it to teach me the basics beforehand.

Quote from heath book:
Who needs to be trained to help a person having a breathing emergency? You do. if you have children, drive a car, shop at the mall or go anyplace where a person may be in a life-threatening situation, you need to know how to respond. An added benefit is the confidence you will have when you know you can help a person when it matters the most.
I believe this strongly, along with needing First Aid.
I have no certifications for either, but I need it, since I will be near people, and if something happens, I would like to be able to do something and help someone.
