Weaving skill is the backbone of Mabinogi Blacksmith, Tailoring, and Handicraft skills. Weaving is the most cost effective for Dexterity per AP. It yields 2 dexterity points for every 1 AP spend for Rank F - A. Because of this dexterity per AP ratio, it is a must for life skills and archers. In this guide I will outline, rank by rank, the path to take for completing the Weaving life skill the most efficient. The philosophy for this guide is "Efficient 100% for Rank up".

Things you should know before starting the Weaving Skill
- Increase dexterity as much as possible. According to the Wiki, 180 dexterity is the maximum limit that dexterity will play a part of increasing your success rate. This does not include the benefits of Production Mastery. I highly recommend having your dexterity as high as you can get it before trying the Weaving Skill. Use Enchantments, Titles, and eat apples to obtain a high dexterity.
- Item bag. If you have the extra storage advance play then buy a 44 item bag (Thanks Genshou for the info). With it you can hold a maximum of 10 wool stacks with the bag. The other items bags hold less than 10.
- Change Channels. Once all the cobwebs/wool has been gathered up, change channels. This will make gathering faster because you will not have to wait for the raw materials to respawn.
- Use Walter's and Simon's part-time jobs to your advantage. They are your friends.
Obtaining the Skill
Talk with Malcolm in Tir with Cobwebs in your inventory about "skills" to gain the knowledge of the Weaving skill.
The Raw Materials
The Weaving skill allows you to turn raw materials into goods needed for other production life skills. The raw materials are Cobwebs (Turns into Thin Thread Ball and Silk), Wool (Turns into Thick Thread Ball and Fabric), and Leather (Turns into Leather Straps).
Cobwebs can be gathered from various sources such as:
Tir Graveyard:

Dungeons:
[Image: http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n112/Polloloco76/Mabiplayer/W05.jpg]
The best and therefore highly recommended place to obtain cobwebs is in the Tir Graveyard. The down side to this is that many other people know that Tir Graveyard is the best place for cobwebs. If you find yourself fighting for cobwebs, then my second highly recommended place is North West Emain Macha. You don’t need any tools to gather cobwebs.

Emain Macha:
[Image: http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n112/Polloloco76/Mabiplayer/W10.jpg]
I recommend gathering wool in Emain Macha due to the convenience of sheep getting stuck by a fence near the loom. Sheep also get stuck by the fence in Tir but it doesn’t happen too often and it is a longer walk to the loom in comparison with Emain Macha. You get anywhere between 20-24 wools per sheep,so keeping them nice and still helps out a lot. You will need a bladed weapon and your left hand free to collect wool. It is more common to use a Gathering Knife which can be purchased from any weapon NPC for 140g

Popular gathering spots: Tir Chonaill Pasture and Emain Macha
Stackability: Can be stacked in groups of 5

Leather can be gathered from various sources but mostly inside a dungeon. Ciar Beginner/Normal and Barri Normal is known for its Cheap and Common Leather drops. Math normal and Gairech Hill (Kobold Land) is known for its Common, Fine and Finest Leather drops. Ciar Intermediate and Advance is known for its Fine and Finest Leather drops.

Tips
- If you have extra characters, have them also look for Leather or Thick Thread Balls from the Part-Time jobs. Go to Walter for the Leather Part-Time, once you find a job that gives out Leathers as a reward, take it the job, then fail it (it shouldn't matter cause it's your mule right? :3). Take the Leathers you got and transfer it to your main via bank (it can't be stored on pets, so bank is the only way) and voila! You have an additional 30 or so Leathers now. Repeat for all the characters you have until the Part-Time job is up. If you have any extra time, also do Simon's Part-Time to look for Thick Thread Balls, do the same process as Leather except you will actually have to finish the job (usually a delivery quest though). Weave during the time you're waiting for jobs to start again, then repeat the process until you clear the requirements
Ranking Guide
[Image: http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n112/Polloloco76/Mabiplayer/W11.png]
Use the cobwebs in your inventory or gather cobwebs from the Tir Graveyard until you get a success.
[Image: http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n112/Polloloco76/Mabiplayer/W12.png]
For Rank F Weaving, you start to get a taste of weaving. Continue to gather cobwebs, and only cobwebs, and make Thin Thread Ball. You can see from the chart that making 30 Thin Thread Ball will give 75% completion leaving 25% to be filled in, to rank up. SAVE YOUR THIN THREAD BALL. I can not stress this enough. DO NOT USE YOUR THIN THREAD BALL. Store them away for later. Complete the remaining 25% by making Thick Thread Ball which requires Wool to make. You will need to make 50 Thick Thread Ball. SAVE YOUR THICK THREAD BALL.
[Image: http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n112/Polloloco76/Mabiplayer/W13.png]
This rank is an important step. The Cheap Leather Strap look appealing but you must complete the Thick/Thin Thread Ball first. Completion of the thread balls gives you 74% completion. SAVE YOUR THREAD BALL. Finish Rank E by making 26 Cheap Leather Straps. You can obtain Cheap Leather by running Ciar Beginner/Normal or Barri Normal. Cheap Leather can also be obtained by doing Walter's part time job in Dunbartion. He gives out 30 Cheap Leather to make into Straps. After you finish the part-time job you can still use the remaining Cheap Leather to make straps and they will count to your Weaving skill. Cheap Leather Straps are rather worthless, so you can sell (straps from part-time jobs can't be sold) or toss the straps after you are done with them.
[Image: http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n112/Polloloco76/Mabiplayer/W14.png]
Rawr! Welcome to the first ring of Hell for Weaving. Same as last step but longer. Complete the Thick/Thin Thread Ball to give you 37% completion. SAVE YOUR THREAD BALL. Make 100 Cheap Leather Straps and you will be up to 87% completion. This is the rank where you start dipping into your store of thread ball. Use the THICK THREAD BALL to make fabric. See chart below.
[Image: http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n112/Polloloco76/Mabiplayer/W15.png]
At Rank D, the odds of you obtaining Cheap fabric is the highest. Having high dexterity doesn't help with the quality of fabric, but only in the success of making a fabric. If you followed my guide to the letter, then you will have 190 Thick Thread Balls. It takes 5 Thread Balls to make a Silk/Fabric so that is 38 attempts. Even if you are amazingly lucky and obtain 38 Finest Fabrics that will only raise your completion by 11.4% making it 98.4% total. Long story short. You will need to go back and shear sheep until you obtain 100%. I highly suggest taking breaks during this time so you will not be discouraged. The point I am trying to make is keep at it and chin up.
[Image: http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n112/Polloloco76/Mabiplayer/W16.png]
WOW! *wipes sweat from brow* That was a lot of wool gathering. Time for cobweb gathering! Doing the math, you will need 143 success in making Thin Thread Ball for 100% completion. SAVE YOUR THREAD BALL. Head back up to the Tir Graveyard to gather cobwebs.
[Image: http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n112/Polloloco76/Mabiplayer/W17.png]

Start off by making Thin Thread Ball and obtain 25% completion. SAVE YOUR THREAD BALL. Finish this rank with Cheap Leather Strap. You will need 250 success's in Cheap Leather Strap for 100%. Again, Back to Ciar Beginner/Normal or Barri Normal. As a side note, at this point you should start saving up Common Leather from these dungeon runs. You are getting close to having to make Common Leather Straps.
[Image: http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n112/Polloloco76/Mabiplayer/W18.png]
By this time you should now know the drill. Finish Thin Thread Ball and SAVE THEM. Finish Cheap Leather Strap to bring up completion percentage to 74%. Head down to Emain Macha for wool gathering and I wish you good luck and chin up.
[Image: http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n112/Polloloco76/Mabiplayer/W19.png]
Change of pace this time. Start off with Cheap Leather Strap for a quick 45% completion. Walter in Dunbarton has two very important part-time jobs.
[Image: http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n112/Polloloco76/Mabiplayer/W20.png]
His beginner part-time jobs fulfill the Weaving requirements for Cheap Leather Straps and Braids. Use this to your advantage as much as possible. If he wants you to do the cubic puzzle or glass bottle part time job then change channels to see if you can get the cheap leather or braid part-time. I can hear your cries "My inventory is full", "My pets are being weighed down", "Isn't 383 Thin Thread Ball enough to save?!". Not really, but it is time to lighten the load. That’s right, silk making time! With 383 Thin Thread Ball you will have 76 tries of getting the remaining 40% needed to complete 100% and rank up. You will need to obtain more Thin Thread Ball at this point. Lets look at the chart:
[Image: http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n112/Polloloco76/Mabiplayer/W21.png]
I also understand that you would grow tired of making silk so in the end, there is only one truth. You will have no more store of Thread Ball (YAY!) but then comes the next rank… Oh and here is a Silk Quality Success Chart:
[Image: http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n112/Polloloco76/Mabiplayer/W22.png]
Looking at Rank 9, Finest Silk has a 6.1% chance of occurring. So wear a finest silk glove to help in that percentage.
[Image: http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n112/Polloloco76/Mabiplayer/W23.png]
Yes. That's right. A sadist made this game. Head up to Tir Graveyard and start collecting cobwebs. Referring back to the good old Silk Chart:
[Image: http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n112/Polloloco76/Mabiplayer/W24.png]
At Rank 8, you will have a 6% chance of making a Finest Silk. Buy and wear the Finest Silk Glove that can be bought from Nora, Galvin, or Walter. I know what you are thinking, "How can it go down?" I don’t know. I can just restate sadist. Well, you will have to make 100 of Finest Silk. If you made it this far, congratulations! I think most people stop at Rank A. Take this one at your own time. A bit at a time. You can do it. Remember what Joe Esposito (No one will know who he is and if you do, you are God) said -
You’re the best! Around! Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down
[Image: http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n112/Polloloco76/Mabiplayer/W25.png]
Remember those Common Leathers I told you to start saving? Well it's time to put them to good use. If you don’t have enough Common Leathers then I banish you to Math Dungeon. In there you will do nothing but pick up Common, Fine, and Finest Leather to save until eternity. Serious time. Save all leathers you pick up in Math dungeon. You will need to make 200 Common Leather Strap for 100% completion. Oh! And congratulations on passing Rank 8. From this point on, it is better to move down to Dunbartion for the remaining Weaving training. Walter and Simon part-time aids you in completing Weaving. Complete Walter's part time job to the intermediate level so he will give you materials for making Braids and Common Leather Straps. Simon gives out Thick Thread Ball as a special reward for completing a few of his part-time jobs.
[Image: http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n112/Polloloco76/Mabiplayer/W26.png]
Complete the Common Leather Straps first. Save your own Fine Leathers for the next rank. Keep going to Walter for his part-time jobs for his Common and Fine Leather Strap part-time jobs. Collect cobwebs from West Dunbarton while you are not in a part-time and make silk.
[Image: http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n112/Polloloco76/Mabiplayer/W27.png]

If you have enough gold to buy 900 Fine Leathers, start with making Fine Leather Straps first, then go to Tough Strings. If you don’t have enough gold to buy 900 Fine Leathers, then start with making Tough Strings. Use those Thick Thread Balls you've been stealing from Simon for this and gather Wool. Always remember that Walter and Simon are your Weaving friends. Keep an eye on Walter's part-time job success. You will have to go up to advance part-time with him, so don’t fail too often to stay in intermediate level. Then you can go back and buy 550 Fine Leather (Sad LOL…), or obtain using these methods:
- Trade Fine Leather Straps for Fine Leathers
- Gather friends to help collect Fine Leathers
- Gather them yourself
- Make bots (just kidding)
- Advertise FREE Leather Strap Making Services!
- Make friends with a high ranking Blacksmith/Tailor
[Image: http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n112/Polloloco76/Mabiplayer/W28.png]
[Image: http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n112/Polloloco76/Mabiplayer/W29.png]
Tough String first then Tough Thread. Tough String is more valuable because it is important with Handicraft Skill. It is needed in making Wood Board and Fishing poles. Tough Thread is needed for making Two-handed swords and Claymores way up in Rank 4 Blacksmith
[Image: http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n112/Polloloco76/Mabiplayer/W30.png]

This rank you can combo attack. Start by advertising T> Finest Leather Straps for Finest Leathers. While that is going on, work on Walter's and Simon's part-time jobs. Get Walter's part-time up to advance level and take advantage of him giving you Finest Leather. Simon will supply you with Thick Thread Balls as a reward. In the mean time, shear sheep while in between part-time jobs.
[Image: http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n112/Polloloco76/Mabiplayer/W31.png]
Finish Tough Thread requirement. Use same method as Rank 3. *Cue drum roll* Rank 1 is just around the corner.
[Image: http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n112/Polloloco76/Mabiplayer/W32.png]
Well for the Master Title you must complete everything listed and not just get to 100%. That is a minor detail. YOU ARE NOW RANK 1!!1 Congratulations! Take a deep breath and party, as your months of hard work has paid off!
