It was actually designed for hardware we have now. I think it was an i7 and a [S]GTX 570[/s] 5870.

Yeah, I was gonna say, as pretty as it looks, it probably doesn't need much. A lot of the time the best thing is in focus and the rest are blurred with lower detail. There's usually only a little going on at once that's super detailed.
Way different from a game that's trying to render a million trees, leaves, random objects all over, gunfire effects and the light reflections like this.

For people interested in running the demo themselves, I believe
this is the site.

Reminds me.
Will Windows 8 carry DirectX 12?

Let me guess you need Windows 8 and a video card powered by a nuclear engine to run that demo.

You need a 7970 or an equivalent GPU, that's about $400 or less new depending on what you get and where you get it. Some places charge a bit more. CPU is an i5 I believe, which is not terribly expensive. Rest is not too expensive.
To just run the demo, it would take about $1K or less, I think.
Runs on Vista.

DirectX 11.1. The DirectX 12 spec hasn't been published yet, I think.
