So every time I do a survey it ask me what ethnicity I am I don't see Hispanic but I see White,Asian, Pacific Islander,African America, ect. But then I see another question by itself saying "Are you Hispanic?" Shouldn't Hispanic be a answer under the ethnicity question? Could someone explain?

I usually see Hispanic under the ethnicity section.
Maybe it's just one survey or a few.

I only see that in my area, because well, Hispanic is the majority here.

Over here they're not allowed to ask age, ethnicity, sexual orientation or pretty much any personal questions not relating to the job D:

They usually take Hispanic out of the racial categories, because it's a vague term, that overlaps with other stuff.
The PC way is to ask separately what race someone is, and then have the followup question, do you consider yourself to be hispanic?
Official stuffs from the US gov't

In October 1997, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) announced the revised standards for federal data on race and ethnicity. The minimum categories for race are now: American Indian or Alaska Native; Asian; Black or African American; Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander; and White. Instead of allowing a multiracial category as was originally suggested in public and congressional hearings, the OMB adopted the Interagency Committee's recommendation to allow respondents to select one or more races when they self-identify. With the OMB's approval, the Census 2000 questionnaires also include a sixth racial category: Some Other Race.
There are also two minimum categories for ethnicity: Hispanic or Latino and Not Hispanic or Latino. Hispanics and Latinos may be of any race.

Its mostly an identity issue. People view themselves differently.
To me its just confusing. I'm a Hispanic.
Theoretically, I would put down African American since my parents are from the Dominican Republic.
But ... I don't consider myself African American, but I'm not White either >.<
All the other options don't fit.
So, I just put African American for techinical purposes.

So I have to check Some Other Race under the Race section?
Thanks for the info [:

I see hispanic in the stupid survey things they make us do for school sometimes.
Then it goes on to say "are you hispanic?" after they just asked your race and hispanic was option.
One time I saw one that said "no race", though. It made me laugh.
