I've seen this done on other vBulletin forums, where if someone tries double posting within an X amount of time, it's automatically added to the last post with an "UPDATED" tag
for example, whenever I lag on another forum I double post

Tested what seems to be the only plugin available for nation's version of VB, it's broken.
Other versions exist but aren't compatible, so not gonna happen.

My solution is to just look over posts that I make.
Because of the 1 minute limit you have before the "edited" tag appears, I make it a little race to try and fix my mistakes before the tag appears.
Sometimes, my mistake was a double post.

Nono, I was meaning with the lag that causes double posting

You mean the lag that Christian gets to make him see double posts that aren't really there? I don't think that needs a solution. Just ignore them.
When you double post out of lag, I'm relatively sure it's actually due to clicking twice, and the lag causes it to be interpreted as two separate submissions.
But if that's the case, it's the same deal. Just proof-read your posts, if you see a double post, delete one of them. I've made a few double posts out of lag myself, and I just delete it quietly and go to do what it is that I do.

Yeah but what about people who bump threads in the Market Place or other boards.
It would serve as a timer, so you're able to bump when the timer runs out.

Isn't there a setting in vB that lets you put a minimum time between posts requirement? I've seen this done elsewhere and it makes a lot of sense!
Of course.. it could have been a mod/plugin/whatever vB calls them, and I'm too lazy to check because it's past 2 am ...

The issue is that lag (or someone clicking more than once believing the post to not have been sent because of lag) that lasts longer than the time gets interpreted as two sends.
I think the current time buffer is 12 seconds.

testing O.o
EDIT: Just tried to post the same thing twice. Looks like there's a 5 minute timer for double posting now. :3 Dunno if it's always been like this and just not working properly, or if you guys added it recently. I could still make two posts seconds apart, so long as they had different content--but that's not the issue here so from my understanding things are set up the way they are supposed to be now. :o

I haven't changed anything, the problem with the usual double posting of the same stuff is network latency. It somehow bypasses that check VB does.

I don't see how network latency would bypass a limit in the software. :| Sounds like a problem with the vB installation and/or the server software. D:

It's a known bug with VB, the latest version of VB has built in double post merge options but I'm not extending my upgrade rights on my license for that.

Ah.. well now things make sense, haha.
