Need Advice and Suggestions on New Computer

  And I dunno why you think a laptop will be better than a desktop. Its so much cheaper to buy a desktop and the parts just pop in and out like legos. Laptop is such a liability.

  That's high settings, not Ultra. Did you have Uber Sampling enabled to? High isn't the highest settings to my knowledge. And because he's in college. He said it himself that he won't be at home a lot, and having a desktop in a dorm room isn't that practical, especially when you have to come home for winter, and summer, and that's a lot of lugging around. Also, his budget is 1k. You can't max out Witcher 2 with only 1k. Again Ultra isn't equal to High D:

  And I don't plan to play anything on ultra-high settings now. Given more thought, I've decided I want a laptop for right now that is sufficient enough for my wants and needs and to save up for a desktop later on. I won't need to limit myself to a $1000 budget after I get the laptop, I only need it now because I know I can be happy with it for the timebeing. I know in the long run it won't last, but it's temporary, guys.

  He never stated what steam games he wants to play. Also, he stated he doesn't want to play Ultra-High settings. Regardless, even if he wanted to, 1k isn't enough for Witcher 2 or Metro 2033 to play on High/Ultra settings just to name a few, but he doesn't want to play on those settings in the first place. That Sager I mentioned is one of his best choices in my opinion, and the Ideapad is good also, but the 1080p screen is above his budget slightly D:

  For gaming I recommend a PC because if anything goes wrong with it you can just easily replace the parts.
  
  I've owned many laptops before and they are always ticking time bombs until the screen gets fried, or graphic cards fucks up. I like to not have to pay 300 dollar repairs.

  maxing Witcher 2 is a hopeless goal
  ubersampling will cripple practically the frame rate for any desktop
  on serious note. Just buy a laptop with a i5-i7 processor and decent GPU
  Intel HD 3000 is fine for Left 4 dead 2 but not good for Skyrim with high settings
  4000 is a good step up but the only exception is that Skyrim has 4X fps

  This is probably what I'm going to do:
  
  But a cheap i5/i7 laptop with discrete graphics and settle with it until I can afford a gaming desktop. No need for the ultra-settings on any games for now. Thanks for the help guys. Now on to the next decision...
