Here's a trick. The real blacks and whites for the cloth palette are one-pixel dots in a line that swivels around the palette. It took me a while to realize this. I wasted a lot of money dying my new lava cat. I tried 2 different white fixed dyes on the leather part of the robe but didn't turn out as white as I wanted, so I dyed over it with a black fixed dye. So if you're looking for black or white, use regular dyes for the cloth palette and fixed dyes for palettes like leather that don't have real whites and blacks. Also, it's really hard to get 3 or more out of 5 of black or white, so just don't waste your time and settle with 2/5.
The sad part is, one of the repairs failed the first day I got the lava cat. It was blessed and repaired at Simon (98%), too.

Dyer's pro-tip (and really the only pro-tip): Just follow the color rivers, That's.. about it. Regular dyes are all luck so i tend to use a structure of using 3 as my primary slot for hard to obtain colors like reds and 1 and 3 or more if possible for black and whites. Some other colors can also be obtained 2 or more of, it depends what your hunting for how much of it you can find. With this structure I more commonly than not will get my color sooner than usual and helps with getting colors close to accurate. Some people find zooming helps but i find it useless, but i'm also used to starring at colors all day adjusting photographs and other computer based graphical art-forms..
I don't use fixed dyes for ANYTHING unless the color is impossible to obtain on the pallet given. Such as a red fixed for leather. I stopped doing that though and use 1-2 reg dyes on getting everything black and use a fast blue/green flashy for the other part that i like best in that coloration. Less nuisance for me and more nx to spend on other things.
Gotta love how Dyelite is common as all hell now a days too it seems. It makes me laugh really because of how bloody useless the program is in all reality. Here's a story about Dyelite for you to ponder.
My friend was all excited because he got his dye program while doing more of his stupid modding. I had something i wished to dye black and he wanted to show off his program. He tried and failed twice in a row using the program getting 3 of the black each round. I then told him to just leave it to me to do and i 1 shotted my black. I put the item on and just laughed.
Even with programs such as Dyelite your going off of chance unless using a fixed dye. Dye programs are NOT worth your time, seriously.
Basic Dye Instructions:
1. Know your pallet
2. Follows the rivers
3. Learn how to manipulate the color pickers positions
4. Learn some patience for once.
5. For impossible colors (pure red, pure blue, pure green, ect.), flashy colors, and non-pallet available colors, use fixed dyes.

Are you cr cr cr cr crazaayy?
4/5 black and 3/5 white only takes me about 10 minutes at the most. More if I'm really unlucky. And that's without mods.

Your anecdote just says, sometimes people are unlucky, and sometimes I am lucky. No pondering necessary.
With the program, you increase your odds of getting the right color. No one said it eliminates chance, but it does make it a lot easier to find spots with duplicate colors. So unless you favor wasting dyes, the program is worth your time.

Yeah.
Any extra chance/help you can get while using dyes, especially now that adv play is gone, is always a good thing.

Most colors are usually just 1/5 anyway, so -THE PROGRAM EVERYONE USES- is pretty useless in most cases.

False. If you aren't very picky, you can get 5/5 of the same 'shade' -- like all different shades of blue.
If you are picky, then you'll get 2/5 or 3/5. This includes red and blue. Black and white are easy, of course.
Super neon colors -- ones that look like they almost glow -- are pretty much the only 1/5.

I'm talking the EXACT same RGB code. My color, a very dark purple, shows up only once in any dye. A lot of colors work that way. And most Fashionogi people are picky enough to have the same exact shade for every clothing.

Lol. Your implications of greatness aside-- If you're getting into the ridiculously picky, exact-same RGB value...
I ask of you this question: How are you going to find that pixel, without the program?
Please tell me how you think the program is useless when it would be, much more stressful, if not impossible to get the shade you so desire without it.

With your eye, search for the patch with colors similar to the one you want. Then just use your eye to find the pixel you want, and compare it with a sample of the shade you want. If your half-blind or too lazy to squint, just use a magnifying tool to find the pixel. :D Oh, and put your client in 800x600 full screen mode. It helps a crap ton :D

Really? you get exact rgb values by eye~?
Excuse me while I giggle.
People can't even tell off-white dyes from white-white dyes from flashy white dyes, sometimes, without a magnifying glass.

I dunno, I've never had that ____ program fail on me before. The worst thing that happens is that it doesn't respond at all. But it's been working for a long time now (even though getting it to work requires a bit of extra clicking) and I heard it recently got fixed. But anyways, that program saves a lot of hassle over finding the right colors. It's pretty hard to get 2/5 for dark red without it, for example. Heck, it's hard enough getting 2/5 with it lol.
