Swords have damage and survivability.
At the cost of ~100$ or so, more if you decide to +10 and up every piece of gear owned.
I know some Lanns who are super good+very nice.
Hai.

Why? It's very relevant in this game.

tbh Evy going for plate is really only worth it if you have a +13 or above weapon. The massive loss in int really makes it far less useful otherwise.
Edit: RebeccaBlack I wish I could slap you right now. If people like scythes then let them play it! Better suvivability than staff anyway. And survivability shouldn't matter because if you're not duoing or soloing you're gonna be revived a billion times and spears just aren't that hard to use in a full party. To add to that, swords do a shitload of damage in not even super pro hands. Cestus is fun as fuck and has the same dodge survival as pillar, you just can't mindlessly spam attacks and absorb shock with them. Big difference from what you said.
To elaborate no dumb evie wastes money on +15 armor. They do the smart thing and buy a warlord's passion set and a tutelary/sentinel set and have about 9k to 10k with it anyway. Then we all laugh at them for being pussies and laugh until we flop over if they're using a staff. You got a damn chip on your shoulder.
What would you even spend $100 on? Enchanting? A +8 armor set and +8 weapon with dual rank A enchants is already pretty good, and you could easily push the weapon up to +10 and enchant your gear for less than $100. Accessories come with excellent 100% scrolls like Strong, Significant, Passion and Healthy and some really good scrolls for other things are rank A or below anyway such as Enduring, Master, Stone, Gallant, Valor, Impending, Bloodlust, etc. It really should not cost that much money to get a good set. You probably won't break 10K defense on a Lann for under $100 (or if you do, not by much, and only assuming you have a decent bit of gold), but 8-9K would be easy as well as having at least 13K attack and generally good, well-rounded stats.
I mean... a guy can either spend some dollars to protect their gear, stuff and stuff, or they can spend more time getting all that stuff back again, working more than probably twice as hard to get the enchants and stones they need only for it to bring their gear back to +0, and crap dura. I think -MOST- people would spend a few dollars, which then turns into a few more as they need to enchant/enhance more crap, and more, and more.

I mean, maybe not 100$, but definitely more than just a little bit of money.
I mean... I definitely understand if one doesn't play Lann and just pulls numbers from statistics. It takes a lot more than that, though.
Defense stacking does not cost more for Lann than everyone else. Sure Fiona gets ~1000-1500 Def free from a Shield, but aside from that: Karok, Kai, Fiona, and Lann all spend just as much on equipment in order to stack Def. Especially given the best budget set is a 3BH/2Apo mix that costs about 20m-25m from what I know.
And I can assure you that you don't need nearly as much NX as you seem to think you need. +6 is fairly doable without runes (gap of 480 Def from +10 for a full set), you should only need about 4 Tutelaries and 2 Sentinels if you cut some corners, and you can afford to not rune on two of five armor pieces.
Assuming 3BH/2Apo, running Enduring, Master, Zeal, and Fury. You can afford to risk 2 Tutelaries without runes. 2 Tutelaries and 2 Sents at 50% should need around average 4 Enchant runes. A +10 weapon needs about one batch of Enhance runes, just use Prideful Bloodlust or something to have a safe enchant setup. That's all that you should ever need in terms of NX, which is only about half of that 100 dollar figure you gave.
And before you say I don't know what it's like to spend on things like this, Silent Quemielle base stats are identical to Passionate Debueruke. Without my shield I hit 8000 Def, and I'm not even using a properly optimized Def set.
It doesnt cost more, its just required if you dont want everyone kicking you out of parties.
If a boat kicks a Lann with X stats, they'll kick anyone with X stats. People seem way less picky with their party composition selections now regardless.

I will kick Lann players for being Lann unless they have pimped out gear. Or, I would, if I could actually host missions.
Sometimes even kicked for being a Lann, regardless of stats. Hell, I've had more than 3 guys let a 11k M. Att. Evie or something under my stats into their boat and kick me out. I still don't know anyone that can explain that. Good stats on a Lann looks better, but some people would just take the crappier player that happens to play that class over a better player that plays a class with a pretty shit reputation. <- Not saying this is everyone's problem, but it sucks to have decent stats and still be kicked. Those stats need to be pretty darn shiny if you want to stay.
I haven't seen any anti-Lann bias since Ep10 was released, so perhaps I've just been seeing the better part of the community. Regardless, the only times I've seen Lanns kicked for being Lanns in recent memory are when the host has absolutely no idea what they're doing. Honestly the only people who kick a Lann since they're a Lann are the ones who just aren't that good at the game.
In general I only ever see kicks for one of two reasons. Stats or since they need room for a guild member/friend/somebody.
Perspective I guess. I've seen "No Fiona" boats, but I don't see that as Fiona being a bad or weak character. I see that as someone stubborn refusing anything less than their "ideal" party composition.
