Hey guys, ive been having this wierd problem with this pc im trying to rebuild. Outside of the box it boots just fine it even posted, but when i put it in the case, it refuses to turn on. It seems to be that if it contact with the metal in the case it wont boot, or it will, but wont post. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

Check if all the motherboard standoffs were properly installed in the case. If you've got a standoff installed in a wrong hole, it'll make contact with the motherboard where it's not supposed to and will cause a short!
If you've verified that the standoffs were installed correctly, then your board is defective and you'll have to RMA it.

Also make sure the motherboard's backplate for the I/O ports is in properly (or remove it entirely) sometimes it makes contact where it shouldn't if it went on crooked. Also, as retarded as it may seem, sometimes making the screws too tight causes that. I don't know if it's from a poorly manufactured motherboard tha needs to be replaced or if some models just behave that way. Happens very often here.
