I always thought Vindictus was Mabi2 but okay.

Nothing surprising, except for "completely different game world".
Maybe I'm reading into that too much. It's not like I'm expecting much from devCAT nowadays.

Wasnt this already posted? like acouple weeks ago? Might have been on the Nexon fourms.
I dont know i would find it really funny if all this Mabinogi 2 talk is actually just the sequel to the prequel Mabinogi Heroes and not Original Mabinogi.
but I dont know has to be pretty dang good if it's going to pull me from Mabinogi because of all the time spent on it.

According to another thread that contains much more information, it's season two of Mabinogi Heroes (Vindictus) that will be coming out, not Mabinogi 2. There is little to no information about the actual Mabinogi 2.

Mabinogi Heroes Season 2 was an update to the game which they already implemented last month and this month in several different updates. You can find videos on it everywhere.
Mabinogi 2 is in fact real and is coming out. There was some new information a few weeks ago but it's not really that great.

The "new gameplay" and "new audience" is what worries me. Like I said in the other thread it's too soon to jump to conclusions but it's going to suck big time if they get rid of all the good things that made the original mabinogi the awesome game that it is. Things like life skills, freedom of how you build your character and that type of thing. Anything else I'm fine with but without those aspects it's not a mabinogi game, in the same way that I don't consider vindictus to have a damned thing to do with mabi other than lore.

They sure are keeping us in the dark about something that's releasing this year. Even if it's only CB, you'd think we'd have a little more information with 4 months left in the year.

Yeah.. if Mabinogi 2 was going to come out.. dont you think Korea would have it by now? Or at least leaked information or a show and tell?
-
Cannibal wrote on 2012-08-23 13:12
It's releasing in Korea... not NA.
There has been information, I was just saying you'd think there would be more. If they were announcing its release for 2013 with the information they've shared thus far, it would make more sense.

"completely different...gameplay characteristics than the original...new audience"
Probably really terrible gameplay with a similarly terrible audience. I'm not sure why they think having a nearly completely unrelated game will be successful simply because its name has "Mabinogi" in it.

this is old news. they announced that Mabi2 would be launched this year in like January(some report for their stock holders or something)
and a few months ago they released teaser videos of characters sitting around a campfire. Judging by the character video, it looks like it's gonna be terrible. It looked like a combination of Vindi's realistic but bland and artless design style, and Mabi's blocky model rendering. A huge downgrade from what was shown in the body physics engine demo that's been on woutube for half a decade.
Also, it looks like it might have... class restrictions. The mage character was shooting sparks from her hand in the sitting animation, which suggests that it might be a seperate class, but i'm hoping i'm just overthinking that and they simply put more work into making different sitting animations for each weapon type.
