I just started playing. It's an open world game like GTA or Saints Row where you drive around, do missions, fight people, etc. Main difference is the focus on hand to hand combat. It's set in Hong Kong.
So far it's really fun.
And like, I heard some people say it runs like crap, but it actually runs really well on my PC. On max settings with HD textures, 1920x1080 resolution and all but "extreme" AA, the benchmark test got me an average of 58.7 FPS, which is pretty good! Skyrim and Saints Row 3 actually perform a lot worse for me on even the lowest settings, which is to say this is one of the few games that actually cooperates with my graphics card.
Cop points level up WAY slower than Triad points. Like, it's crazy... I've gained the max cop points every time and only like 2.5 Triad points, and I've been getting like 4x as much Triad EXP.
The characters are actually interesting to me, despite having only played like an hour.
I like going around doing the yellow events... I haven't even gotten to the second mission because I'm spending so much time driving around doing them all before I progress. I just took some pictures of a shrine and a sunset or something.
Ugh the camera is so bad. That's my #1 complaint, and it's almost enough for me to want to plug in my PS3 controller and see if it's more tolerable that way. I can't get over how terrible it is. I've actually lost two missions right now because the turning radius of the camera wouldn't cooperate with me and I hopped off of some ledge for no reason while trying to follow someone. They either didn't test this on the PC or they were dumb.

Nice on the benchmark, I got around the same too! ^_^
I haven't ran into problems with the camera yet, but I hopefully will not :x. What cpu and gpu are you using?

The camera thing happened right away for me, first mission. I just don't like it. Turning somehow feels slow and unresponsive.

I honestly find it very lacking compared to other similar games (GTA, SR3, etc). At the very least it had a nice hand to hand combat for the type of game it is but overall, everything else was lacking; cars, weapons, so on and so on.
I'm not sure how much better the graphics are on the PC, I have the Ps3 one, but I found the graphics pretty... mediocre. My younger brother beat the story mode in 2 days. I got it on the first day release. I only have like 5 hours in the game... lol...

I haven't been playing it, but I've been watching theRadBrad playing it. Seems pretty cool for a free roam.
[S]Besides, I'm learning LOTS of Chinese.[/S]

Graphics are really pretty with everything turned up. They're not super high tech or anything, but artistically they're beautiful and they're definitely "good enough" that it won't look bad, by any means. No jagged edges, no sloppy textures, etc.
The hand to hand combat is, imo, the highlight of the game. That's fine though, we didn't really need another open world gun game that badly. I really liked some earlier titles like The Bouncer and Shenmue 2, so I can really appreciate this kind of combat because I've been waiting for it for so long. At first I thought it might suck, but countering makes it fun for me.

Not really, but the random NPCs do repeat a lot of lines. In terms of the story mode, it's fine.

I think it's like Yakuza without hostess clubs but the story is a lot better.
