After 55 levels, I'm finally done with all the racial starter areas, and moving onto lv 15-25 areas.

As Kitae would put it, "Zid is painfully slow [at exploring]".

Ya, that is painfully slow. I had all the racial starting areas done by like day 2 or 3. I forget. I need to do more of the north areas. Focused on the start areas, then the shiverpeaks, and then Orr (which I'm still not done with)

I really do like to stop and smell the roses.

[s]Un[/s]fortunately, the Guild Wars series has always been known as "an explorer's MMORPG", and I hate loving it for how well it does that.

Oh trust, me I spent plenty of time to stop and smell the roses and enjoy the scenery and spent a lot of time afk and still managed to move quickly. How much time does one need to look at the same scenery in the same spot? More than an hour? I think that's the longest time I spent staring at any one scenery. There's a lot of scenery to see.

Also, I kind of needed to move quickly through Orr, not a lot of safe spots to sight see when you are constantly under attack.

Sometimes I'd take a few minutes just to stare at and admire a piece of scenery. And the music that accompany it. The works of the legendary duo of artist Daniel Dociu and composer Jeremy Soule within the masterfully crafted world of Tyria isn't something I can describe with words, but can only pause and enjoy in at any moment.

I'm also easily distracted by the dynamic events and the chains they lead to, even the ones I've done multiple times before. Done the Frozen Maw meta event chain in Wayfarer Foothills more than 10 times, and I never grow bored of it.

I always look around for details in the scenery, for puzzles or so (even if I fail to find some, and people show me them). Whenever I reach a settlement full of NPCs, I always take the time to talk to ones that can start a conversation with me, and then get absorbed by the conversation. I am an MMORPG explorer, and I am a lore digest.

I rarely use waypoints. This also saves me money.

I play PvP/WvW a lot. Because they're just so addicting to me.

I theorycraft a lot in Heart of the Mist. The best way to survive is knowledge.

I craft a lot, and like to discover recipes. I tend to revisit karma vendors many times for recipes, and look up sources online.

I adventure with guildies and even random strangers back into lands I've already tread. Because there's no bad reason why.

I'd sit around with groups of people and talk to them. You know, like the beta days of Mabinogi around campfires. That kind of sharing of experiences under the clouds and stars.

The point is, I do more than just look at the scenery. I essentially live the entire game.

Well, I think that's the difference. I don't do PvP at all because I just end up wasting my money, get nothing out of it, and only get pissed off. Plus, nobody, is around when I'm on to do adventuring with me :(

I do it with random people. Perhaps it's because I tend to stay at my areas I'm exploring, and thus my level doesn't matter.

Then again, I haven't touch my personal story yet (Lv 3!) and I've only been in Ascalonian Catacombs' Story mode because a friend absolutely wanted me to join.

Me neither. I preferred the older stuff that showed the in-game footage, just with cooler angles than we'd normally get in-game.

On the subject of exploring, I've been exploring the main cities, and then the one map immediately after those cities. I'm on the last one. After that, it's back to actually sticking to a main area, for the most part. I need to start getting myself some better equips, and actually focusing.

I need to finish Sparkfly Fen and see if I can get to level 275 artificer and use up some of the other stuff I've been hoarding. Still a long way to go unfournately :(

Did a couple of the small easy jump puzzles in Sparkfly Fen, no achievements for them but there was loot to be had.

The most bottom right corner of Sparkfly Fen, right where the point of interest is, there is a hidden jumping puzzle. It is misguided by ANOTHER treasure chest, which is more or less designed to make you think you completed it when you haven't. But I assure you there is an achievement and a splendid chest waiting.

Edit: I went from level 75 to 80 in an hour yesterday morning by switching profession a few times and just crafting a bunch of leathers and cloths.

Weird. I got a small chest and a big chest and still no achievement from it. Every video I've watched from it also did not give an achievement. Explain.

The big chest I got was from when you turn off the switches and was behind the energy shield.

Keeping this for records:

Making a new character and 100% exploring all the capital cities will set your character at lv 8 and a third of the way to lv 9. This means the character will already have unlocked weapon swapping and the first utility skill slot (with 2 skill points ready) by the time s/he's ready for PvE content outside the cities.

Also, I knew I should have bought gems when they were going for 18s per 100 gems. :fail3:
