Turned out to be just like Demon/dark souls in game-play, similar to how vindictus was(is) a similar game to monster hunter?
Would that be a good choice for Devcat & Nexon alike after spending so much time developing mabinogi 2?
Do you suppose more people would enjoy it better than mabinogi and vindictus at this very moment?
Would it allow for more flexability with content?
From what I've gathered through observing the physics demo and combat testing screenshots in the development stages, it seems as though Devcat is making the pleioneV2 engine to be similar to the havoc engine that was used in demon/dark souls, super smash bro's brawl, assassin's creed etc.
With that being said, how would you feel if Mabinogi 2 had a hint of demon/dark souls gameplay mixed with the original mabinogi gameplay? :chin:

I don't recall vindi being anything like monster hunter gameplay wise. Or even similar.
If it was, i would be enjoying myself on it right now.

In the early stages of vindictus, there were a few of similarities between it and monster hunter.
Mostly being npc-only equipment crafting
limited to colhen forever, and ever.
super-straightforward bosses
and fixed hp/stamina gauges that could only be enhanced by equipment and titles.

It will probably depend on how much other games like that by the time it comes out. Mabinogi isn't a very popular game in the first place compared to many other games that are in sequels.
Just look at Vindictus and Dragon Nest. They are not popular at all. Dragon Nest is almost like unknown. Do any Mabination people even play that?

Dragon nest might not be that popular in the US, but it's allot more well know in SEA. Maybe not on the scale of WoW, but they still have 688k Likes on FB. And not everyone that play is on FB.
I use to play Dragon Nest before I came back here. Got bored on lvl 40 cap will full +10 Apo set.....
I wouldn't mind if Mabi 2 hand the game play of Dragon nest..... it just need allot more content and less boring dungeons.....

It would depend on what elements from dark/demon souls are used. I don't think many people are masochistic enough to endure thousands of deaths.

I think the people that play vindictus would like the way Mabi2 is looking, but I liked Mabinogi...

Then you can keep playing Mabinogi, at this point in time Devcat intends to keep both running side by side. Mabi 2 isn't a replacement, it's an addition to the family.

I don't know those games.
I just know that for vindictus, I really like the combat style and fast paced action.
What I absolutely hate in vindictus and why I don't play it:
- Super linear, no freedom. You're a slave to the storyline.
- Crafting is a freaking joke, and last time I played, with the exception of the shit crafting system there was no life skills
- While the combat is fun, it's pretty much ALL there is to the game. Easy to quit after a week of playing and not come back for months (which I did a few times)
- Character lock, which is even worse than classes/jobs
- There's practically nothing outside of the dungeons/boats. The last time I played there was 2 towns and 1 map connecting them together. I want a huge landscape to explore with field monsters, life skill related gathering, and entrances to dungeons spread around.... like a proper MMO. Vindictus feels like an arcade game due to the lack of this. It's like a shooter with a lobby or something.
If mabi2 doesn't suffer from these same aspects I'd be happy to give it a try. For now it's too early to say for sure.

As of season 2 theres a little more emphasis on crafting, but its really not that big of a thing still.
But honestly, if you took Mabi's giant world, gave it vindi's graphics and combat, while keeping it class-free. I'd pay money for that shit.

how to make crafting worth while... and not break economy.... make crafting better or the best way to get armors ...... now disable any kind of trade for crafted equipment = no easy leveling... take away or lower* equipment required lvls for crafted equipment.. make them easier to upgrade? idk something that both makes crafting worthwhile while keeping it from being broken to economy..
at end of boss fights you could like... have a individual loot system for everyone and then an exchange system to help attain what you or another player may need.
