I actually feel that the ideal party for fastest clearing times would be four endgame rangers, two endgame meleers but with everyone in the party branching off into either fighter, puppet or mage. So in a way, what you assumed, but with more hybriding involved to make for the most efficient party.
I didn't list a mage as one of the main people, because while icespear is effective in crowd control, unless this person is bringing some crazy mind blowing damage, it's faster dps if we just ice dragon, keep everything together, not let the mobs even have a chance to move, and crash shot, windmill, etc.
Most people I run with specialize in one main class, but then have top notch skills in other areas as well. Below I'm going to detail out a party from within my guild that I feel would suit npc best, which may give a better idea of the type of party I'm talking about, or what others should look for when putting together their own. However, this is just for fastest clearing times, casually put together parties can do just as well. Really can't emphasize teamwork enough.

Main Class: Melee
Gear: Endgame, Iron mace ego + r-upgraded warhammer
Special Notes: Rank 1 Raincasting, multiple ice dragons and utilizes perfect timing when summoning to ensure proper mob control within the run. High DPS with melee+ full swing. Can branch off into many different skill sets when needed.
Indexu
Level: 7k
Main Class: Range
Gear: Endgame, insane reforges, capped ego
Special Notes: He touches things and they die. Need I say more? Also hybrids into endgame fighter as well.
Kaon
Level: 7k
Main Class: Range
Gear: Endgame
Special Notes: Hybrids into all classes, mainly utilizing fighter in npc, strong party tactics, can hold together a run by himself.
Hijiri
Level: 6k
Main Class: Doesn't have one. Hybrids into range, melee, fighter, etc
Gear: Endgame
Special Notes: Utilizes all skill sets extremely well and is a perfect example of a well rounded character, being able to accomplish whatever they need to do at that point in time.
Coy
Level: 5k(?)
Main Class: Ranger
Gear: Endgame, crazy insane reforges
Special Notes: Basically the second Indexu of our guild, is able to put out insane dps with range and also hybrids into mage.
Homicide
Level: 5k
Main Class: Range
Gear: Endgame
Special Notes: Hybrids into fighter, is able to put out great dps as well.[/SPOILER]
To summarize the party above, basically paired Hrungnir's excellent crowd control and dps along with a group of rangers who can clear the spawn quickly with crash shot, but can branch off effectively into single-target high dps classes when needed. This is also assuming most people listed above will be ranking puppet skills as well.
