AVG used to be the go-to free AV solution, but it's been surpassed by Avast! and Microsoft Security Essentials. At the end of the day, all antivirus software sucks at giving you real security, so I just use the least annoying one, which is MSE.

I only have Malwarebytes installed, and never actually really needed it. Get a good firewall too, if you're serious about protection. Comodo's appears to be pretty decent, and I guess their anti virus software may be too.

Avast! is by far my favorite, I would highly recommend that one.

Avast! because it's always updating it's definitions.

Use MSE or Malware bytes. AVG and Avast is just bloat
Common Sense 2012 is actually the best one out there.
"Ding! Avast virus database has been updated" I love that sound. Also the $20 for year subscription was a sweet deal (sometimes have sale to make it cheaper) Also take advantage of it's free service (sometimes it bugs and give an extra year \o/)
Avast blocks any suspicious ad, site, files. If Avast interferes with any game update like BF3, it will be updated in few hours :D

Try Windows Security Essentials. They have lots of funding, and must therefore be good.
