Service Etiquette: How to treat the Production Skilled

I applaud the people who take time to train these skills. I myself have started tailoring and its already hard for me at rB so for those at r1, they really worked their ass off to get there and I agree that they need to be treated respectfully if asking to have a certain item made. It ain't easy hitting r1 in the skills.

One of my paying customers once told me, if someone wants something done for free and you don't want too, then get them to find someone else. It's pretty simple, and it works.

Its not like Enchant/Major life skills are free to rank1 or anything, It actually pains me on the inside for giving out free burns to complete strangers.
cause r1'ing enchantment at least costs me 7~8m.

i agree with the manners
any ways mabinogi crafting system isn't unique, wonderland online is older and is way better, more complex , and more time demanding .-.
and you actually give many uses to what you craft there (house furniture, tools, the best weapons/armor/clothes and stuff).
And there are many games with the same crafting systems as mabi, but ALL of them lacks of a good battle gameplay.

If you do ask someone who has worked to those high Ranks, giving a genuine "Thank you." really makes their day.

I don't find this relevant to the guide. I would rather that constructive criticism, suggestions, or informative comments be made rather than off-tangent topics or complaining about one's own Service woes.

I considered offering free services several times, but I'd be ruining the business for people who worked hard to rank certain skills. In the end I wouldn't be helping someone more than I'm hurting someone in return, so what would be the point? I side with the hard working. Most people don't even charge as much as they rightfully should.

It's okay if for you its not relevant for the guide itself, but it wasn't a complain or destructive criticism, but saying that mabinogi crafting system is unique can be considered false information, since it's not, remember that newbies, childs and new-to-games people read your guides, even the irrelevant info should be accurate. Anyways i like your guide, don't take it bad when someone points something on what you said in a good way. As last, you don't decide what people have to write.

People that offer free services will get tired pretty quickly though when people spam them whenever they're on. This means that the quality of service will suffer too when the enchanter would rather run a sm daily with their friends at the moment rather than do 5 enchant requests.

However, when I log on and see 5 people message me for enchanting though, I know its 5 x 50 k gold so I go straight to my homestead to enchant!

Should be kept in mind that the provider does not require your services, but rather you require theirs.
It's really puzzling when people believe that the provider is at the mercy of the customer, and they have to do everything they can to please them.

This isn't real life, where this is done as a full-on job where you need the money. If they've managed to get to R1 in these skills (Which are expensive to train), clearly they have the means to make money on their own. Your requests are just a bonus.

Offering services for free is not so bad. On that note: Usually people who do offer it for free will not do it for long, but for those that do, players will still ask for service that requires a fee if it is available to them right then.

I'm not taking your words badly, nor am I telling what anyone has to write. I told that I would much rather have constructive posts towards the guide to be made so that the ideas of others can actually help me in improving this guide.

The post was not a complaint nor destructive; it is just sitting there without helping or harming anything. I appreciate that something was given, but I don't find it very relevant to the guide.

On what was said: The crafting system as a whole is unique in its own when including every aspect about it, for example, Enchanting.
I cannot be the one to compare to a great number of games, but I doubt that another game that has a system very similar to Mabinogi's is out there.

Haha, that's exactly what I told a friend of mine when someone wanted to constantly haggle about a perfectly fair item price. "The customers is not king in Mabi." It might take longer to get a profit-able service running or to sell your stuff if you are picky with customers, but it will make your game life much less frustrating in the long run.

I totally agree about this guide. Though my best skill is Metallurgy and Refining, a few people I told about that pretty much demanded I help them with ranking their Refining by providing fragments. While I like helping out friends, I don't want to be at their beck and call 24/7 doing something that I pretty much grinded out all by myself and am sick of right now. It's easy to tell off strangers, but friends ...

Usually when the patient & enduring player offering a service obtains a good image he/she asks for a fee. While he/she will lose some customers many will understand the reasons (as talked about) behind it. I usually pay the blacksmiths who help me with Mats though, since many run their own player shops and need to obtain/buy less Mats that way.

I agree with this yet I can't stand what some people price items at sometimes. I've never once had anyone craft anything for me (besides a close friend of mine that I supplied the mats then he failed and got the mats again for me <3) But from what I hear half the time about crafter is that they charge out the ass. I can understand charging what you said, 50k-100k and a bit up, but when you bring someone everything to make the item and then some and they expect 500k and up, that's just outright ridiculous.

Again, I understand that part of the guide about just going to find someone else that does it cheaper but you gota take in the fact that some people will see what someone else is pricing their stuff at first before they make theirs. They'll either go a bit lower or stay at the same price. So not always is the 'price right' but really it's 'what they think based on some greedy guy/gal' in some cases. Not all. Just throwing my two cents out there.
