So I was wondering if there was a way to determine whether or not a certain piece of equipment could be dyed or not, cuz:
a long time ago, I bought a drandos leather mail, but it had an ugly yellow chest-piece, so I looked on the wiki and the wiki said it used the leather palette for dyeing, which made me think that it could be dyed. But the regular dye I bought couldn't be used on it, same with any fixed dyes I had.
And recently I aquired a graceful plate armor, and the wiki said the metal parts use the metal palette and the skirt part uses cloth. But again, no fixed dye I own works on the cloth part, and I'm wary about buying a metal dye for the metal parts only to discover that it's completely undyeable.
I wish the wiki would specify what equipment can be dyed. x.x
Or am I doing something wrong? e.o
So I guess my question is: can the metal on Grace Plate armor be dyed? xD
tyvm. :>

I don't think its possible without the use of mods, even then I am not sure, or with wiki having wrong info.

I think for armor, nearly all metal parts can be dyed using a metal dye. For some armor, even fabric-looking leggings and stuff require the metal palette. (and for example, dustin leggings can't be dyed at all). What you could do is buy a metal dye for a reasonable price and try it. If it doesn't work, just resell it at the same price (or even a bit more if you can!).

Or you could be like me and don't listen to the wiki's information.
I only use the wiki for BASIC information that people don't screw up (such as NPC stats/prices for buyable items)
Some things that cannot be tested and proven is better off being left mysterious. (i.e. you cannot possibly purchase all the armor/clothing in the game and attempt to prove that there's a pattern in what you can dye and what you can't dye)

I'm fairly certain that I dyed all of my Drandos. That was pre-Metal Dyes though. So go with those? Maybe? x-x

fabric- and leather-parts on all light armors require the use of a regular dye ampoule, they CANNOT be dyed with fixeds. metal parts, self-explanatory. metal dyes for those.
