Something like Les Miserables, Coco Chanel, or classics-- that sort of thing. Those ones about the French Revolution or bourgeoisie crap and stuff, you know what I mean? (I really have no idea what I'm talking about here, so work with me. And don't ask why.)
On another note, it'd be really nice if you could find one that ends in a tragedy.

French touchy feely movie with a tragic ending...
Got one!

The ending is bittersweet instead of purely bitter, but still. Also some display of dirty hedonism, but overall a very sweet movie.
I haven't watched the ones you mentioned, so I can't tell if it's close to what you want.

 Thanks for being my only support in a world where people don't appreciate touchy feely french movies! That one looks like it fits well.
I'm actually looking for something to watch for someone's birthday
For "her" birthday, eh?
Other nice movies to watch, but rather not tragic, are:

But you don't have to have a tragedy to cry yourself out at someone's shoulders, if that's the behaviour you're hoping for.
Audrey Tautou is great~
And that's actually all I can think of right now. I know some other French movies, but they don't count as touchy feely films.

I saw the first one there, it was hilarious! And the second one seems to incorporate a situation often found in American films: a battle of the sexes. I may need to be careful.
I think I'll probably go with Jeux d'enfants though; the tragedy part is partly for my enjoyment, as I'm not right in the head.
