If you're ballooning for stars just buys wings back to the camp (healers). You wont have that problem anymore.

This issue has been one that has been with us since hot air balloons were introduced back in G8. It probably will never get fixed either so do as Hatsune suggested bring lots of wings.
As far as I can tell, it happens randomly and there's no way to prevent it.
