Server Specifics to keep in mind
No official end or nether portals are functional, even if you find/create them. You need to use the custom ones provided. You'll also have to find them yourself.
World Information
There are multiple worlds, all accesible via portals.
Here's a (crappy) visual representation of the current "surface" worlds
There's also some non surface worlds, like nether and end.

Clock Town
[Image: http://mabination.com/nationcraft/img/town-clocktown.png]
This is the spawn point for new arrivals to the server. It's a big-ass sky island.
No one can build here, but there's some generic, crappy "apartments" that can be claimed by players. Just ask me to put a lockette sign over a door that has an "available" sign on it.
Apartments generally have a bed (or more than one bed), a chest, craft table and furnace.
World Specifics
- No hunger decrease
- No monster spawns
Nation
[Image: http://mabination.com/nationcraft/img/town-central.png]
This is the "main" world, it's already been played in so it has a few settlements but they're mostly abandoned. Clock Town has portals to the main locations of this world. Use these portals to either inhabit the abandoned towns or to start off on your own journey somewhere. Everything in this world is standard except it doesn't spawn spiders, to accommodate my arachnophobic friend.
World Specifics
- No Spiders
- Has one end portal that actually works, and can be found using eye of ender method (or wait til someone else finds it)
- no official nether portals
- TNT and creeper explosions do not break blocks, endermen do not steal blocks. fire and stuff do not spread.
Darkside
[Image: http://mabination.com/nationcraft/img/darkside.png]
This is the "moon" of Nation. It is a limited size world (although still gigantic, over 5000x5000 blocks). It's always dark (night + bedrock roof)), has more aggressive and smarter mobs (zombies will dig through walls to get to you, for example) and has a lot of resources that are easier to find but require teamwork to collect.
This is also the only place you will find nether portals. You will need to find them yourself, though the first one isn't hard to find at all.
World Specifics
- modified environment: grass = mycelium, stone = end stone, water = lava, sand = soul sand (have fun in deserts). trees are dead. always night.
- monsters are very aggressive/smarter
- skeletons will shoot from farther away
- creeper explosions are larger
- zombies will dig through blocks to get to you
- all explosions and fire are enabled
- a lot of mineral resources. wood is also easy to get since there's no leaves.
- anything goes
- Only world from which you can go to the nether.
Core
[Image: http://mabination.com/nationcraft/img/core.png]
This is the nether map. Other than the means used to access it, there's nothing special about it.
Nowhere
[Image: http://mabination.com/nationcraft/img/nowhere.png]
This is a secondary The End map, no dragon or anything, only endermen. You can't get here with any portals, it's where I'll be locking up bad players.
End
Just the regular The End map. Dragon is there waiting to be killed. I don't know if dragons ever respawn, if not I'll occasionally delete this map and then recreate it so people can keep hunting the dragon.
Currently the only way to access End is by finding an end portal, like you normally would, only catch is there's only one portal that actually works (using the portals mod). The only hints I'll give is you can find the functional one using eye of ender (i built it on top of an actual end portal), and it's not too far from one of the current towns on Nation, which can be accessed by portals in Clock Town.
Portals
All portals, including nether and end, are controlled by the multiverse portals plugin.
The central hub for all these portals is within the clock tower, in Clock Town.
Portals Hub
[Image: http://mabination.com/nationcraft/img/clock_tower_portals.png]
To get to the portals hub just enter the clock tower. To use a portal just walk through it.
Mobs can not pass through them.
Pets will not follow you between worlds.
Inventory will remain the same between worlds (health and hunger too).
Unless you used a bed to set your spawn point, death will respawn you in clock town.
Banks
Banks are nothing special, they just use an End Chest to allow you easy access to your stuff.
The biggest towns already have a bank built in them. Future towns can get their own banks too (they can be player built, or admin built, doesn't matter).
The way end chests work is you only see the items you put into it, and any end chest will show the same items, no matter where you are (in this case, it works between worlds too). So it works a bit like banks in MMOs, that's why I built actual bank buildings around them.
So it's a safe way to stash your diamonds and adult magazines.
Rules
- Do not grief in Nation.
- Worlds like Darkside/Core/End are free for all, within reasonable limits. If you're a dick you get locked up.
- Do not ask for access to worldedit, admin or commands. It's just annoying.
- Be kind to villager NPCs, especially the ones who look like they were placed behind a shop counter on purpose.
Server Update Policy
The server runs on Bukkit, and uses a few plugins that depend on Bukkit. That means the server will not be updated until a usable (usually beta build) version of Bukkit is released that coresponds to the latest minecraft release. In addition to that, all plugins need to be compatible with the updated version of Bukkit.
Once everything is stable, I update. Not before.
You have a few choices here.
- Either you update your client and lock yourself out, wait days/weeks for the update (other bukkit servers might also lock you out for a similar time frame)
- Don't update right away and keep playing on this server and other servers who also use bukkit stable releases
- Get one of those fancy launchers/loaders that let you switch between versions.
In case you accidentally update past the current server version, here's a download of the minecraft.jar that corresponds to the server: http://mabination.com/nationcraft/jar/minecraft_jar_1.4.5.zip
