My new laptop is having this weird issue where it would just freeze at 12% during the Windows Update, the "Configuring something" stage.
I left it there for awhile and noticed it wouldn't continue after 12%, so I thought it was just slow. Then it restarted by itself, and started going at it again, then restarted again. Finally it gave up and reverted the changes and just started up normally.
I feel like I should be kinda worried about this because this laptop is just a week old, is there any fixes to this?

Disable Windows update
Well, I would like to update my computer whenever I can.
But is there a way to let my computer update without getting it frozen at 12%?

LOL.. don't disable Windows Update. That's stupid.
Anyway, it looks like there's some update that screws up the whole process. You might be able to find which one it is via system logs, but if you don't feel like digging through that, you can just install updates separately to find out which one's been giving you problems. I hope that all the Important updates are installing OK for you, at least, as they contain security patches.

Oh, I've encountered this problem, although it stopped at 15%, doesn't hurt to try though.
- Press Start Button + R
- Type msconfig.exe
- Go to services tab.
- Click on the checkbox "Hide all microsoft services"
- Click okay, it will ask you to restart, do it (do not update your system yet)
- After the restart, update your system, and restart again to allow the update to configure
- Enable the services again.
