Tips for starting a new Fiona?

Heya, so I played NA Vindictus quite a while ago but then I quit because I reached the cap and it was seriously too laggy for party play. Now that they've added an AUS server, I'm thinking of starting a again with some friends.

I played hybrid Sword/Hammer Fiona and enjoyed the combo and blocking system, is that still viable in the new harder missions? Didn't like Lann and Evie is okay, no idea about the new characters.

Do you have any tips or builds for someone starting again (I think I finished the bloodprince set when I quit)? Is this guide still up to date?

Or any advice on gears? Swords or hammers? Any advice is appreciated

I'll just say that the guide is definitely not up to date, especially with the ignition update which rebalanced all the characters, though you can still use the boss video guides. :V

Yes.

Use swords rather than hammers at this point, and don't worry about gear until 60+. Until then, just use whatever. When you get there... it kinda depends on how much the current values of things have dropped. S2 just came and it's going to change which sets are the best, depending on their price. The old budget set (BH/Apoc) will be superseded, I believe.
